Ruben Gallego Reacts to the Senate Candidacy of Mark Lamb

Controversial Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb has declared his candidacy for the United States Senate.

A devout Trumpist who likes to espouse MAGA-QAnon views to right-wing reactionary friendly networks like Fox News, Newsmax, and the Anti-Semitic owned “TruNews” Sheriff Lamb has said he is running on the themes of “God, family, and freedom.”

He is also running on “law and order.” That is strange considering he supported the Big Lie about the 2020 Presidential Election and held Donald Trump blameless for the Domestic Terrorist attack on the Nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021, saying:

“This is about the other issues that have happened — the Hillary Clintons that have gone unpunished…I don’t know how loud we have to get before they have to listen to us and know we will no longer tolerate them stripping our freedoms away.”

When asked in a Politico interview about the 140 members of law enforcement that were injured or killed during the attack, Lamb “demurred, saying he hadn’t been there and couldn’t say what was or wasn’t true.”

Some law and order candidate. He must mean law and order for people (probably only white) who support Trump, MAGA, and QAnon.

Mr. Lamb is also on record for opposing mandatory COVID vaccines and supports the creation of private militias to combat peaceful protestors like Black Lives Matter (even though no such events occurred in his county.)

He is also in the Sheriff Joe Arpaio mode in decrying illegal immigration (duh) even though Pinal County is nowhere near the border.

Reacting to the Lamb announcement, Arizona Congressional District (CD) Three Representative and Democratic Senate Candidate Ruben Gallego issued a statement that read:

“Arizonans deserve serious candidates who respect our democracy and rule of law. Luckily, there’s still plenty of time for the GOP to produce one. Mark Lamb is just another reality TV personality trying to cash in. I’m in this race to serve the people of Arizona.”

Representative Gallego is right. Sheriff Lamb is not a serious Senate candidate. Then again, neither are the other Republicans (like Kari Lake or Abe Hamadeh) who are considering running for the seat held by Independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema.

That said, Democrats should be thrilled that the former Party of Lincoln in Arizona have continued their streak of putting forth MAGA-QAnon extremist candidates that will send Independents and McCain Republicans fleeing to support other more qualified, viable, and saner options.
