Today (Thursday) at 4pm, Save Ethnic Studies will be holding a press conference.
Faculty/Plaintiffs from Tucson Unified School District's Mexican American Studies program will hold a press conference Thursday to present their end of school year report card evaluating the performance of TUSD Superintendent John Pedicone. The litigants in the case against HB 2281 will give Pedicone failing grades on all fronts and call for his resignation.
Since I always comment on these MAS-related matters, let me say I don't know enough to agree that Pedicone has failed in his job as TUSD superintendent. He's done poorly when it come to the whole Ethnic Studies issue, but I don't have the information to judge him in other areas. My sense is, he's at the beginning of his tenure and should stay on as superintendent unless he hasn't performed well in other parts of his job. I'm hoping Pedicone has a decent learning curve and understands some of his failings in dealing with this one very tough, sensitive issue and will deal with situations like this better in the future.
