Apparently, our immigration system is just fine. We have great laws. That’s what Russell Pearce said today on MSNBC.
Pearce was talking with (more often trying to shout over) National Council of La Raza’s Clarissa Martinez on an MSNBC Show today. Here’s the interchange, which is in the last few seconds of the clip.
Martinez: The laws you are introducing add greater chaos to the broken immigration system…
Pearce: It’s not a broken immigration system.
Martinez: I think that we have seen this in many other local jurisdictions where people have tried to pass their own laws.
Pearce: We have great laws. We have great laws, we just need to enforce them.
If you’re a conservative, you can almost never go wrong saying something of ours is “great.” We have the greatest health care system in the world. We have the greatest soldiers in the world. And we have great immigration laws.
How dare you say our laws aren’t great? Why do you hate America?
Although, these days, it’s OK to say we have the worst president in history. I think they adopted a few exceptions to their “All things American are great” rule in January, 2009.
