The road to victory for Democrats in Arizona in most State-Wide, Congressional, and Local races, is going to be paved with the support of a sizable number of Independent and Disaffected Republicans that still believe in Democracy and the Constitutional Republic the people live under.
That is why Arizona Secretary of State and Democratic Gubernatorial Nominee Katie Hobbs welcomed the support of one of the posterboards of modern conservatism and heroine of the January 6 committee, Liz Cheney when asked by MSNBC reporter Alicia Menendez on October 2, 2022.

After warning about the dangers of the Arizona abortion ban and Republicans passing a national one if they regain power in Congress, Hobbs was asked by Menendez, after the reporter showed a clip of soon-to-be (because of her opposition to Trump) former Representative Cheney telling a moderator for the Texas Tribune that she “would do everything I can to make sure (election denying) Kari Lake is not elected.”
Secretary Hobbs responded:
“We welcome a broad coalition of folks to make sure that Arizona stays in the hands of a leader that is going to bring sanity instead of chaos. If Liz Cheney wants to come to Arizona, I welcome her as well as the broad coalition of sane Republicans who want a sane leader in the Governor’s office who have joined our campaign.”
As Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post has pointed out in an earlier column today (October 4, 2022,) Katie Hobbs, and other Democrats have made the smart and wise move of welcoming the support of Republicans who do not want to follow the Trump wing of their party down the white nationalist-fascist rabbit hole.
While, as Rubin pointed out, Secretary Hobbs has, other than the love of country and the Consitution, practically nothing in common with Cheney on the vital socio-economic-cultural issues of the day, all, as Hobbs would say, “sane people” realize that the threat to Democracy in Arizona and the country is real and it is vital that the sixty to seventy percent of the nation that does not want to follow the Trump Republican Path into an Authoritarian future for the United States, need to band together and stop candidates like Kari Lake, Mark Finchem, Abe Hamadeh, Tom Horne, Kimberly Yee, and the other congressional and local election denying-anti democratic extremists from winning on November 8, 2022.
Democrats may not be able to do this on their own.
They will need the support of pro-Democracy Independents and Republicans.
Katie Hobbs and the other Democratic candidates (Adrian Fontes, Kris Mayes, Kathy Hoffman, Martin Quezada, Sandra Kennedy, Lauren Kuby, and the Congressional and Local nominees) are smart and wise to realize that.
Only together can Democracy win and the forces of authoritarian darkness fall.
Remember to vote by November 8, 2022.
