This from Sean McCaffrey, executive director of the Arizona Republican Party. He says, while Tim Bee can claim a long list of accomplishments, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' accomplishments are so thin, "you'd have to include marrying a spaceman."
Spaceman. I think that's the first time I've heard that term used to describe an astronaut.
Republicans sit up nights thinking of demeaning titles to give Democrats, their supporters and their spouses. Really, they do, in "think tanks" (read "spin tanks") across the nation. If Gabby married a General, they'd call him G.I. Joe.
Then they "How Dare You!" every time a Democrat is unpatriotic enough to be critical of someone who we're supposed to respect because of his/her rank or position.
Maybe, just maybe, the Republicans have finally reduced themselves to an absurdity in the last elections with their negative tactics. Maybe people will laugh at them instead of thinking, "What if they're right? Just in case, I really can't vote for that scary Democrat."
We can always hope.
