The Star's Tim Steller has a good piece on the gun policy poll conducted in Arizona and four other states, which I posted about yesterday.
Check out his opening paragraph:
Once again, a survey of Arizonans is showing strong support for more restrictive gun laws. This is not particularly surprising anymore — it's been reflected year after year in polls, as I reported on this blog last month. What's surprising is that the state Legislature's actions continue to run counter to public opinion on this issue. [boldface added]
Arizona Republicans are out of step with the wishes of the Arizona voter when it comes to gun laws as well as a whole host of other issues. Either they honestly believe the pro-Republican vote in Arizona and the nation meant the voters subscribed to the wingnuttiest pieces of their extreme agenda, or they know their large majorities are short lived, and they want to make hay crazy while the sun shines.
UPDATE: The Republic has an article on the poll.
