Trump Republicans, like the twice impeached, twice popular vote loser, twice David Duke endorsed former occupant of the Oval Office, have the shared propensity for lying.
Extremist Trump Republican Secretary of State Nominee Mark Finchem is no exception.
Over the last month, fact-checkers (mostly PolitiFact) have found Mr. Finchem has lied at least four times with regard to how much he voted by mail, former Vice President Mike Pence’s role on January 6, fake ballots in Arizona, and how voter fraud in Yuma altered a local city council election there in 2020.
He has lied more than that (readers will remember his nonsensical claims that illegal immigrants were going to invade Arizona) but let us focus on the immediate past.
During his debate last month with Adrian Fontes, Mr. Finchem claimed he did not vote by mail, saying, “I don’t care for mail-in voting. That’s why I go the polls.”
Apparently, Mr. Finchem thought no one would bother to check up on that claim.
Wrong!
Dillon Rosenblatt from the Fourth Estate found that Mr. Finchem has voted by mail 28 out of 30 times since 2004. The two times he did not was in a local Tucson election in 2007 and the August primary where he probably thought people would notice.
The Trump Republican scored a pants-on-fire rating from Politifact when he claimed, before a friendly audience of 2020 election deniers, that Vice President Mike Pence engineered a coup against Donald Trump by not overturning the electoral college results from several states, including Arizona.
Finchem earned another pants on fire from Politifact by claiming that Arizona was flooded with fake ballots.
Finally, he earned a false rating, again from Politifact for repeating the false narrative from the Dinesh D’Souza election-denying fable, 2000 Mules that ballot harvesting caused a different election result in a local Yuma City Council election.
Commenting for the Adrian Fontes for Secretary of State Campaign, Matt Grodsky said:
“We are glad the media and public are being shown how much Finchem lies.”
If his flagrant dishonesty is not enough to convince voters, then Mark Finchem’s known membership with the Oath Keepers and his participation at the January 6 domestic terrorist attack on the United States Capitol (please see him on candid camera in the Arizona Democratic Party ad below) should show everyone that he is an extremely dangerous individual that should not be entrusted with overseeing Arizona’s elections.
Do not let Mark Finchem become Arizona’s Secretary of State in January 2023.
Defeat him at the polls on November 8, 2022, and send him into political exile where he belongs.
