Valdez Main library, between Alameda and Pennington, along Stone Avenue), and El Presidio Park. Check out the three entertainment stages at TMY, as well as the Folk Art demonstrations in the Pima County Courthouse courtyard.  Their entertainment here: http://www.tucsonmeetyourself.org/2014-performance-schedule/. Free showings of “Dead Poets Society” at the Fox on 2nd Saturday Downtown

2nd-Saturdays-Downtown-logo-2

Downtown Tucson is hopping.  Not only because of the arrival of the Sun Link modern streetcar (operating since July 25, 2014), but way before then. I’ve been seeing lots of people riding Sun Link to downtown from the UA, even during the weekdays.

Special free showing of the late Robin Williams in “Dead Poets Society” at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Fox Tucson Theatre, 17 W. Congress St.  Tickets on first come first served basis.

Ride Sun Link to 2nd Saturday Downtown in August

Most of Tucsonans know by now that the  new Tucson modern streetcar started operation with 8 cars on Friday, July 25.  If you missed being one of the 60,000 passengers who tried it for free, plan on catching it easily to downtown from the UA, Main Gate Square or 4th Avenue (or even from out west at the Mercado de San Agustin or the Luis G. Gutierrez bridge on Cushing St.) to downtown,  for the monthly, very popular urban street fest called 2nd Saturday Downtown.  This fest has been celebrating downtown since May, 2010.

How to ride Sun Link: http://www.streetcarfriends.org/faq/. A round trip pass costs $4.00 (get tickets at the kiosks) and the streetcar runs till 2 a.m. on Saturdays (Sunday mornings).
