You can quibble with the use of the term "intellectual" in some cases. Andrew Golis might have said bright and knowledgeable and insightful instead. On his Talking Points Memo blog, Golis lists Ten Young Progressive Intellectuals Who Make Me Hopeful.
I don't know everyone on the list, but the ones I know make me hopeful as well. To see the faces and hear the voices of these people in the first halves of their lives, people a decade or more younger than Obama, to read or listen to them saying things that are important and well informed — it feels very good.
They don't have to be right all the time. I don't have to agree with them on every issue. They just have to be putting their heads and hearts into what they're doing, and have the integrity to argue with one another when they disagree and admit they've made a mistake when they're proven wrong.
Here's the list. It's not in order of preference. He's not ranking them against one another.
Rachel Maddow, Jay Smooth, Samantha Power, Jacob Hacker, Van Jones, Rebecca Traister, Rinku Sen, Chris Hayes, danah boyd, and Rick Perlstein.
May the force(s) of good be with them.
