Setting guns on a pedestal and worshiping them like gods. Call it heresy if you're of a religious bent. Call it insanity otherwise.
Today is the gun buy-back day. Turn in an unwanted gun at the 1100 S. Alvernon police station near 22nd Street and get a $50 Safeway gift card. Assuming the gun worshipers don't get their way, the guns will be destroyed and made into . . . I don't know, plowshares, bicycles, planters — something useful or decorative.
If you don't have any weapons you want to get rid of, that's fine too.
