I'm relieved I'm not pushing to end a program that's a proven success in raising students' academic achievement. The right wing would say I hate children, that I'm willing to further my own partisan liberal agenda at the expense of students' futures.
Nope. They're the ones who want to end ethnic studies programs in schools. (They're aiming at TUSD, but, as with their attempt to change the way Tucson holds city council elections, they have to make the mandate state wide.) Yet every indication is that the students enrolled in the program become more focused as students and show significant gains on the AIMS test.
Could it be the partisan conservative agenda of removing ethnicity from our society — remember, "White European" is not an ethnicity, that's what's known as "normal" — is driving their desire to get rid of a proven educational program?
