The last two days have provided more examples of the high zeal and intensity of Arizona’s mainstream political forces that are devoted to electing the Harris/Walz ticket and Democrats down ballot in .the Grand Canyon State.
Yesterday, Gwen Walz, the wife of Vice Presidential Candidate Governor Tim Walz appeared at a Phoenix area Get Out the Vote Rally with Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and Arizona House Congressional District Three Nominee Yassamin Ansari.
In comments supplied by a press release by Harris/Walz for Arizona, the potential future Second Lady of the Nation stated at a couple of stops:
“Trump and Vance aren’t fighting for us. They’re fighting for themselves, their rich donors, and their extreme allies. Trump is coming after our reproductive freedoms, too. Arizonans have the chance to vote yes on Proposition 139 — and you certainly should. But make no mistake: if Trump imposes his 50-state abortion ban, those protections disappear.”
“Kamala and Tim have all the momentum right now, and it’s because of folks like you. This past weekend alone, our campaign knocked on more than 1.5 million doors and made nearly 15 million calls. We’re winning voters over, one neighbor at a time. I know we can win — and we will win — because we have you. So I’m here to say: thank you for all you do.”
Mayor Gallego offered:
“Raised by a working mom in a middle-class home, Vice President Harris believes that when the middle class is strong, America is strong. As president, she and Governor Walz are committed to tackling one of the costliest things families across America worry about: the cost of housing — and they have a comprehensive plan to do it. On the other hand, Donald Trump and JD Vance only have one plan: their Project 2025 agenda that will raise taxes on families by nearly $4,000. The choice in this election couldn’t be clearer.”
Ms. Ansari conveyed:
“We’re facing two very different choices this election. Donald Trump wants nothing more than to enact his Project 2025 agenda that will give him unchecked control over our lives and to ban abortion nationwide, give tax cuts to his billionaire friends and dismantle our democracy. On the other hand, with Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz, we have a very different future to look forward to. Together they are fighting for a New Way Forward that will lower the cost of housing, end gun violence, protect our rights and freedom and ensure everyone in Arizona and across the country can get ahead.”
Earlier today (October 30, 2024,) The Fighting for Reproductive Bus Tour journeyed to Tucson to repeat the message that the Harris/Walz Ticket will endeavor to safeguard the ability for women to make their own health care choices.
At a stop during the event, former Representative Gabby Giffords, in comments provided by a Harris/Walz press release, said:
“Everything is on the line this election, from reproductive rights to gun safety. Vice President Harris is the only candidate who will fight for reproductive freedom and a safer future for all Arizonans. That’s why it’s critical that everyone gets out and VOTES! Join me in supporting Kamala Harris for President.”
Arizona State Senator and ADLCC Co-Chairperson Priya Sundareshan commented:
“Today, Arizona women still live under a Trump abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest and there’s only one person to blame: Donald Trump. If Trump gets reelected, he would go even further. His extreme Project 2025 agenda would ban abortion in all 50 states with or without the help of Congress, restrict access to contraception, force states to report on women’s miscarriages and abortions, and even threaten access to IVF. This election, abortion access is on the ballot. In Arizona, we have to pass Prop 139 to protect reproductive freedom in our state Constitution and we have to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.”
Arizona State Representative Betty Villegas contended:
“Let’s be clear: if given the chance, Donald Trump and JD Vance would take this nightmare nationwide with their extreme Project 2025 agenda, which would give Trump virtually unchecked power and control over women and their bodies by banning abortion nationwide with or without the help of Congress. Vice President Harris is a fighter for our reproductive freedom. She has a vision for a New Way Forward and when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom nationwide, she will sign it into law. She is the only candidate in this race who will turn the page, restore our fundamental right to choose, protect access to our reproductive health care, and make sure that politicians get out of our doctors’ offices. This is the future that Arizonans deserve.”
Later in the day, Giffords appeared with her husband, Senator Mark Kelly and Democratic Senate Nominee Ruben Gallego at a get out the vote event at the Harris/Walz-Arizona Democratic Office in Maryvale.
At the event, Senator Kelly, according to a campaign press release, said:
“Every door you knock on, every phone call you make, can be the difference between winning and losing. If you can sign up for an additional shift, it’s going to really make a difference. We don’t want to go back to those years of Donald Trump with big tax cuts to billionaires, shredding our alliances and taking away women’s reproductive rights, we don’t need that. We need a president and a Senate and a House that’s going to take this country forward.”
Speaking in English and Spanish, Representative Gallego relayed:
“What I’m hearing from people, especially Latinas, is they want to have a chance at the American Dream. But they’re seeing about 80% of everything they make now goes to childcare. They’re worried about their kids being in schools that have potential gun violence. They’re worried about them being able to control their own bodies.”
At the final event for today, a group of Republicans for Harris featuring founding member Mesa Mayor John Giles and new inductee former Senator Jeff Flake spoke again of the need to put country over party in electing the Harris/Walz ticket and Democrats down the ballot because they do not recognize what Trump and his MAGA supporters have done to the party of McCain.

At the outdoor event, Mayor Giles, in a campaign press release, stated:
“The Republican Party continues down the path of political extremism, away from focusing on our fundamental freedoms. That’s why we are encouraging all Republicans that are on the fence to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris … I call on other Arizona Republicans to join me in choosing country over party this election and to vote against Donald Trump and his Project 2025 agenda that will take us backwards. We have to defend democracy, stand up for our personal freedom, and stand up for the right to vote. We can’t afford to have all the good work that has been done repealed, and we cannot go back. With Vice President Harris, she is charting a New Way Forward where everyone gets a fair shot – let’s make sure that becomes a reality.”
Senator Flake asserted:
“I’m a lifelong conservative Republican … and I am supporting Kamala Harris and Tim Walz not in spite of being a conservative Republican, but because I’m a conservative Republican. Conservative Republicans believe first and foremost in the rule of law, and the major tenant of the rule of law is respect for elections. I’m supporting Kamala Harris because I know she would never use the powers of the presidency to overturn an election she did not win. That’s what Republicans believe – you respect elections. That is the rule of law.”
Former Scottsdale Mayor Sam Campana framed the election with the below statement.
“Kamala Harris cast the most tie-breaking votes in the Senate in over 200 years. She tackled climate change, the Inflation Reduction Act, and a meaningful gun safety law – decisive, consequential votes that have changed the landscape and our economy. Health care benefits that have helped all of us and more to come. A trillion dollar investment in infrastructure – and that changed Arizona. That changed America for the better. She’s fighting a New Way Forward. I say when somebody shows you who they are, believe them. The Vice President of the United States has shown us her entire career who she is, and we believe her. Arizonans are going to show us who we are – a Western state full of hardworking people, divided equally among Republicans, independents and Democrats. We are going to show her who we are. We are a Republican coalition, and we believe in Kamala Harris.”
The drive to secure Arizona’s electoral votes for the Blue-America’s team continues throughout Election Day including visits by Vice President Harris in Phoenix tomorrow and Governor Walz in Flagstaff and Tucson on Friday.
