In the Nations Capitol, Donald Trump, using predominantly white children as a photo backdrop, signed an Executive Order saying that Transgender Children designating themselves as female could no longer participate in school athletic events on girls teams.
In his comment, Mr. Trump said “With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over.”
What war is this person talking about?
Reporting from 2023 shows that there are only approximately 100 transgender girls competing in school athletic programs across the United States.
For those in MAGA circles that do not know math, that is two children per state.
History remembers Harry Truman in part for the Executive Order he signed to desegregate the armed services.
History will remember Donald Trump, in addition to his other loathsome acts, as the person who signed Executive Orders to take away Birthright Citizenship and declare a war of bigotry on innocent children just because of their sexual orientation.
Attending the White House event today was Arizona Senate President Warren Peterson, the MAGA extremist that wants to be the States next Attorney General.
While the Homo and Trans Phobic Peterson was in the Nations Capitol bending the knee to his White Nationalist Master, Democrats at the State House were fighting MAGA Republicans and their attempts to steer Anti LGBTQ legislation through that body toward Governor Katie Hobb’s veto pen.
Legislative District (LD) 12 Representative Patty Contreras spoke against HB2062, a bill designed to memorialize specific gender designations, saying “This bill is contrary to Christ’s teachings. Erasing members of our community is not love. It’s hateful and ignorant. I’ll never understand why this government feels it is necessary to bully those who are vulnerable and a very small segment of the our community. If the intent of this bill is to force us into the shadows, it will not work.”
Like White Christian Nationalists really care about the teachings of Christ.
LD Nine Representative Lorena Austin also pushed back on the Republican measure, stating that her MAGA colleagues lack understanding of the LGBTQ Community and asked for them “To understand…There are communities that are fearful of this type of legislation. And when they see that the House passes these kinds of bills, the Senate passes these kinds of bills…it’s now considered a type of bullying behavior because this community asked just to exist and just to be.”
Commenting on both the Trump and Arizona MAGA actions, Senate Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan wrote:
“Yet again, Arizona Republicans show they are more obsessed in policing gender than in making Arizonans’ lives better. Democrats will continue to push for protecting Arizonans’ freedoms and their right to privacy.”
House Democratic Leader Oscar De Los Santos stated:
“This executive order does nothing to bring down the cost of housing or healthcare or childcare. It does nothing to take on the greedy special interests that are jacking up prices for working families. Instead, it divides us against one another — all so we’re distracted as the Republicans give yet another handout to the billionaire oligarchs who own them.”
Representative De Los Santos also railed against Republican efforts to prohibit the flying of the Pride Flag at the Capitol posting his floor comments:
New Arizona Democratic Party Chairman Robert Branscomb also released a statement that read:
“Our Republican-controlled legislature has the ear of the President, and they are using it for hate instead of delivering results on real issues. Arizonans deserve leadership that stands up for our children by funding public schools, increasing teacher pay, and expanding the free school lunch program rather than targeting transgender student-athletes. As Donald Trump and our Republican legislature spread division, Arizona Democrats are fighting back against transphobia and standing up for our students and the education they deserve.”
In 2022, it was reported that there were 142,000 Arizona Children that lacked health insurance.
15.8 percent of Arizona’s children live in poverty.
Rather than sign executive orders or pass legislation legitimating bigotry against innocent children, maybe these MAGA Republicans should work with Democrats on ensuring more children get health insurance and reduce the state child poverty rate.
That would be the Christian thing to do.
