In another attack on the nation’s public schools, American Duce wannabe Donald Trump and his Know Nothing Secretary of Education Linda McMahon have (probably illegally) impounded (halted) the Congressionally approved disbursement of five federal education programs totaling $6.2 billion.
According to a press release by Save Our Schools Arizona, the federal education programs impacted are:
Title I-C for migrant education: $375 million
Title II-A for educator professional development: $2.2 billion
Title III-A for English-learner services: $890 million
Title IV-A for academic enrichment: $1.3 billion
Title IV-B for before- and after-school programs: $1.4 billion
According to the below graph, Arizona stands to lose close to $120 million (12 percent of its federal education funding) if this withholding of funds is allowed to continue.

Commenting on this latest attack on public education by the Trump/McMahon Project 2025 regime, Save Our Schools Executive Director Beth Lewis wrote:
“Arizona schools stand to lose nearly $120 million of Congressionally approved funds because President Trump is seeking to dismantle public education. These proposed cuts will have significant and disproportionate impacts on Arizona’s public schools which serve many low-income students, migrant students, and students learning English. These funds are critically needed for before- and after-school programs, hiring teachers, and ensuring quality learning supports for all students. As many Arizona school districts start classes in 2-3 weeks, school leaders are looking to DC for answers.”
Arizona House Democratic Assistant Leader Nancy Gutierrez responded to a request to comment from Blog for Arizona, offering:
“This is another attempt from Trump and his minions to destroy public schools. This is Project 25 and, unfortunately, Arizona has already seen how this works. Public schools educate every single child. Public schools must be fully funded.”
Later on social media, Representative Gutierrez posted:
“This is unacceptable! Just another attempt by Trump and his minions to destroy public education.”
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes posted on social media:
“Trump is withholding nearly $120 million for AZ schools that were already appropriated by Congress. This is an outrageous attack on children and families. Schools need these funds to hire teachers, educate kids, and prepare for the new school year.”
Arizona House Representative Yassamin Ansari posted:
“Arizona schools are already at their breaking point, and now Donald Trump is making matters worse. His administration is illegally withholding $118 million of dollars already appropriated by Congress, stealing from our schools. This is outrageous and I’m demanding answers.”
Arizona House Representative Greg Stanton issued a press release where he commented:
“On the same day Republicans passed a bill to cut food assistance for needy kids, Trump’s Department of Education is defunding Arizona’s public schools and the students they serve. That should tell you all you need to know about this Administration’s priorities. Trump needs to listen to parents and educators and restore this funding immediately.”
The Arizona Department of Education issued a press release to the community saying they are providing guidance to public school districts and charter schools about how to handle this impoundment of federal funds.
What that guidance is was not included in their press release.
School starts in two to three weeks in some Arizona Districts.
It would be nice if Tom Horne uses his influence with his friends in MAGA world to get the funds released for the public school children he is sworn to work for.
