TUSD Board candidates’ forum at Drinking Liberally tonight, 6pm

by David Safier

I'll be moderating a forum with the candidates for TUSD Board tonight (Wednesday) at Drinking Liberally, starting at 6pm at the Shanty, 401 E. 9th St. (NE corner of E. 9th St. and 4th Avenue). It looks like the Democratic candidates will be there, which is the majority of people running.

In case you haven't been following the race, 12 people are vying for the three seats, an amazingly high number for a no-pay job whose primary benefits seem to be long meetings and constant criticism. If it wasn't clear before, the Board's votes on the Mexican American Studies program emphasized the extent to which the Board determines the current and future direction of the District. Then there's school closings, budget decisions and lots more. The more you know, the better your voting decisions will be.
