OK, I know. The elimination of recess and physical education from our schools didn't get as much media attention as removal of some other programs, but in a country of fatties, they're just as important.

As obesity rates among US children and adults climb, it's only common sense to find funding and time in the school day for recess breaks and physical education.

  1. Steve and Kristel, I have an 8-year-old grandson. You don’t have to convince me that he would pay more attention in class if they let him loose on the play ground for 15 minutes twice a day.

  2. Thanks, Pam! All the candidates agreed that the elementary school kids need daily organized physical activity breaks. That’s why Dr.
    Mark Stegeman and I worked so hard to get a structured recess mandate in TUSD!
