Whoever ghost-wrote Vic Williams' Wednesday op ed in the Star (nothing wrong with that, politicians are only occasionally good writers) decided to go sexual with his/her imagery, creating an ejaculatory metaphor to accentuate the frequent derogatory use of the term "stimulus."
In other words, the Obama administration shot its stimulus wad on pork-barrel spending and keeping government employees working in an artificial continuum, with little spending directed at jump-starting private-sector job creation. [boldface added]
Cute.Throw the whole smutty Anthony Wiener episode into the mix, and you've got yourself a real literary low.
I like using a metaphor to complement another term as much as the next writer, but I hope I would never stoop to this kind of crassness.
But then, from what I've heard about Vic's overbearing attitude toward women and his frequent use of sexual innuendo in conversation — he enjoys using his height and deep voice to their full bullying effect on women — I shouldn't be surprised at this kind of thing from him. Who knows, maybe he put that little image in there himself — thought it was kind of funny.
