Housed on the first floor is the new UA Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum and the Southern Arizona Heritage & Visitor Center.  Also on the west side is the newly finished January 8th Memorial, remembering those 6 people shot and killed at the 1/8/11 Tucson mass shooting.

Missing from the ceremony was Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckleberry who was seriously injured in a car/bike accident downtown on October 23. He is recovering at home and his wife Maureen spoke at the ceremony, and thanked those in attendance for their well wishes. Deputy County Administrator Jan Lesher was MC in his absence.

I used to be a Hearing officer for Small Claims court in that historic building, for Pima County Consolidated Justice Court. Wonderful to see what has evolved since our court moved over to 240 N. Stone Avenue.

The Southern Arizona Heritage and Visitor Center is now open on the ground floor of the Historic Pima County Courthouse.
