The deadline for nomination petitions for the upcoming races in the City of Tucson for Mayor & Tucson Council members in Ward 1, 2 and 4 was on April 3 at 5 p.m. Here’s the list of who’s running for the Primary and General in 2023:

Regina Romero (D), incumbent (one term), former Ward 1 Tucson Councilmember
Janet Wittenbraker(R), political newcomer
Arthur Kerschen (L), political newcomer
Ward 1 Council
Lane Santa Cruz (D), incumbent (one term)
Miguel Ortega (D), has run for TUSD Board (2010), Ward 1 Council in 2019 (rematch)
Victoria Lem (R), political newcomer
Ward 2 Council
Paul Cunningham (D), incumbent (three terms)
Lisa Nutt (D), political newcomer
Ernie Shack (R), political newcomer
M. Pendelton Spicer (L), political newcomer
Ward 4 Council
Nikki Lee (D), incumbent (one term)
Ross Kaplowitch (R), political newcomer
General Election candidates for Mayor (to face off with Democrat, Republican and Libertarian winners from the Primary):
Ed Ackerley (I), ran for Mayor in Nov. 2019 (rematch)
Zach Yentzer (I), political newcomer
The Primary Election is on August 1, 2023 and the General Election is on Nov. 7, 2023.

UPDATE: Independent Mayoral candidate Zach Yentzer removed from ballot due to insufficient signatures: https://tucson.com/news/local/yentzer-booted-from-ballot-in-race-for-tucson-mayor/article_4fdce736-e5ea-11ed-8afd-7323d19ff98a.html. So now the Tucson Mayoral race will be between the incumbent Mayor Democrat Regina Romero, Independent Ed Ackerley (rematch), and Republican and Libertarian candidates on Nov. 7, 2023.
