Questions for Martha McSally: A quid pro quo for the TanMan? (Updated)

In this continuing series, “Questions for Martha McSally,” we pose questions to
the McSally campaign about her positions on current hot topics — I am
not going to give her a free pass until after the GOP primary like our local media did in 2012 — and neither should you.

I posted the other day about the ‘Worst. Speaker. Ever.’ to fundraise for two GOP candidates in Marana this Saturday:

House Speaker John Boehner will be coming to Marana on Saturday to help raise funds for Republican Congressional candidates Martha McSally  and Andy Tobin.

The $500-a-plate luncheon, held at a private home in Marana, will benefit a new political action committee recently formed by the two candidates.

Filings with the Federal Election Commission reveal relatively little about the “McSally Tobin Victory Committee.”

So the TanMan, whom the Tea Party would like to replace as Speaker next January with one of their own, is doing a fundraiser for the GOP establishment candidates endorsed by their nemesis, Sen. John McCain.

The question for Martha McSally — and for Andy Tobin as well — is “Have you promised your vote to John Boehner for Speaker of the House (or Minority Leader) in exchange for his endorsement and contributors list for your campaign fundraising?” This is a quid pro quo.

Will any of Tucson’s political media show up to ask the candidates this question? The event announcement does not say that it is closed to the media. The location and details of the event are no secret either, it is posted online here http://politicalpartytime.org/party/36879/, and in just in case I saved a copy Here (.pdf).

Will any of the slighted GOP candidates and their supporters show up to protest the TanMan choosing sides in their GOP primary? Will they be allowed to ask about this quid pro quo? Gary Kiehne and State Rep. Adam Kwasman in CD 1; Shelley Kais, Charles Wooten and Jim Brown in CD 2? How about “Tea Party Trent” Humphries, former state senator “Don’t make me angry” Frank Antenori and his Tea Party side-kick Christine Bauserman?

While we’re at it, how about the five Northwest Side Democratic organizations protesting the TanMan showing up in our house? (Southern Arizona). The Weeper of the House is singularly responsible for denying an up or down vote on comprehensive immigration reform, the extension of long-term unemployment insurance benefits, an increase in the minimum wage, equal pay for equal work wage parity, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), President Obama’s Jobs Act, etc., etc. There should be no shortage of protest signs.

The TanMan, Weeper of the House John Boehner, should not be allowed to come and go as he pleases in our house without hearing the angry protests of Southern Arizonans.

UPDATE:  Tim Steller at the Arizona Daily Star reports that his colleagues Joe Ferguson and Becky Pallack took the opportunity to ask a few Republican candidates their position on Boehner.“If you had been in Congress in 2012 would you have voted for him as speaker? Why or why not?” (Face palm)

Yes, let’s ask a hypothetical question in the past tense, rather than the present tense calling for a declaratory answer: “Have you promised your vote to John Boehner for Speaker of the House (or Minority Leader) in exchange for his endorsement and contributors list for your campaign fundraising?” In other words a quid pro quo?

The Star’s framing let Martha McSally avoid answering the quid pro quo question with one of her typically flippant ad hominem attacks: McSally: “Yes. I’d support anyone working to stop Nancy Pelosi, the person Ron Barber voted for.”
