Scott Walker brings his failed economic plan to Arizona

scott-walkerGovernor Doug Ducey, the man hired by Koch Industries to manage their Southwest subsidiary formerly known as the state of Arizona, is hosting Governor Scott Walker, “the goggle-eyed homunculus hired by Koch Industries to manage their Midwest subsidiary formerly known as the state of Wisconsin” (h/t Charles Pierce) at, where else, an Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry event Chamber Leadership Series TODAY in downtown Phoenix.

If Charles Pierce was writing this post, the caption would be “Watching Scotty Blow.” Welcome to Arizona.

You can bet that these headlines will not come up at this Chamber/”Kochtopus” love fest: Wisconsin private-sector job growth lags national average:

Wisconsin added jobs at half the national average, ranking it 40th in private-sector job growth for the 12-month period that ended in September, according to figures released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The state has lagged the national average since July 2011, bad numbers for Gov. Scott Walker as he talks about his record while ramping up for an expected presidential bid. Walker, who took office in January 2011, has called the quarterly jobs numbers the “gold standard” by which his accomplishments should be measured.

The monthly report put out by Walker’s Department of Workforce Development, showed Wisconsin’s unemployment rate fell to 4.8 percent in February. The 4.8 percent figure is based on monthly data that can fluctuate wildly, and Walker has said in the past that his performance should be judged based on the more-reliable quarterly figures.

The latest jobs number, based on a survey of nearly every employer in the state, were down from the previous quarterly report in which Wisconsin ranked 31st in job growth.

“While Gov. Walker continues to campaign across the nation on the taxpayers’ dime, Wisconsin families are struggling here at home,” Democratic Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling said in a statement. She said Democrats, who are in the minority in both the Senate and Assembly, will push proposals to raise wages and job opportunities.

The numbers show that private-sector jobs grew 1.16 percent in Wisconsin during the 12-month period, while the national growth rate was twice as high at 2.3 percent. Wisconsin added 27,491 private-sector jobs during the most recent period compared with 36,732 in the previous report.

All other neighboring states grew at a higher rate than Wisconsin. Michigan was the highest at 2.02 percent growth.

When public sector jobs are included, Wisconsin ranked 38th in growth.

But wait! There’s more: Pew Report: Wisconsin No. 1 State In Household Income Decline:

My guess is that the same Very Serious bobbleheads who have pronounced Scott Walker a “formidable contender” will delicately avoid talking about this study. Because FREEDOM:

Wisconsin ranks worst among the 50 states in terms of a shrinking middle class, with real median household incomes here falling 14.7 percent since 2000, according to a new report.

The Pew Charitable Trust report showed Wisconsin with the largest decline in the percentage of families considered “middle class,” or those earning between 67 and 200 percent of their state’s median income.

In 2000, 54.6 percent of Wisconsin families fell into the middle class category but that has fallen to 48.9 percent in 2013, according to U.S. Census figures compiled by Pew.

All other states showed some decline but none as great as Wisconsin’s 5.7 percent figure.

Gee, I wonder why. Could it be the Ayn Randian splendor of Scott Walker’s economic voodoo?

Scott Walker is running for president so he can ruin the rest of the country the same way that he has ruined the state of Wisconsin for his corporate benefactors in the “Kochtopus.”

  1. Here’s Scott Walker’s pitch for President: “As Governor of Wisconsin, I destroyed unions, Wisconsin had the worst growth rate in the Midwest, and I’m going to leave the state with a $2 billion deficit.” Now that’s a record to run on.

Are you ready for Hillary? The Clinton legacy (1993 – 2001): Best economy ever, balanced budget, with a projected ten year surplus of $5.6 trillion.

Democrats slogan in 2016: Safe Streets, Strong Schools, Quality Health Care.

Scott Walker’s 2016 slogan: But the Koch Brothers Love Me!

  2. Who knew that destroying unions, destroying teachers and public schools, and denying climate change IS economic development. Only in the minds of the Koch Brothers minions.
