Today marks the 100th anniversary of INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY, a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
International Women's Day honors the work of the Suffragettes, celebrates women's success, and reminds of inequities still to be redressed. The first International Women's Day event was run in 1911. 2011 is the Global Centenary Year.
It is a time to celebrate the lives of women and to renew our commitment to women’s human rights throughout the world. H/t photo feministpeacenetwork.org.
