A huge crowd gathered at Reid Park along both sides of 22nd Street and Country Club today in Tucson as part of the nationwide Hands Off! protests. More than 150 groups, including civil rights organizations, labor unions, veterans and election activists, organized the demonstrations in more than 1,200 locations in all 50 states.
Demonstrators voiced anger over the administration’s moves to:
- Fire thousands of federal workers
- Effectively shutter entire agencies
- Deport immigrants
- Scale back protections for transgender people
- Cut funding for health programs
The April 5 protest drew an estimated 15,000 attendees, according to initial counts by the organizers.
The protests, hosted by Mobilize Tucson, aimed to “unite against these attacks on our constitution,” said to Bennett Burke of the group. Drivers honked their horns in support, so loud that it sounded like freight trains pulling into the station.

Opponents of President Donald Trump and his billionaire advisor Elon Musk rallied across the U.S. to protest several administration actions. There were more than two dozen protests planned across Arizona, including in Phoenix, Flagstaff, Sedona and a number of smaller cities.
Speaking at the state capitol, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes vowed the American people “will not go quietly!”
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes joined the protest in Sedona, energizing the crowd as she highlighted the ongoing legal battles Democratic 23 attorneys general have launched against President Donald Trump, the Republic reported. Read: “There is a Coup Taking Place,” says Attorney General Kris Mayes.
“When Donald Trump decided that he wanted to strike out unilaterally birthright citizenship, we sued him, and we won,” Mayes said. “When they tried to fire 25,000 probationary federal workers, we sued them, and we got them stopped.”

I realize that protesting is a great way to voice ourselves as people of USA but I’m not seeing one thing he’s doing g being stopped and how how how does an immigrant (musk) even allowed to participate in law making ?
I need to see some positive news – something! Please – this past election made zero sense to me how he won legally? Especially after his 1st round!
I can’t seem to talk to anyone about finding out if we the people are gaining ?
Sad sad and horrible times
Deborah, you need to read Judges and Lawyers Fight Back against Trump’s Blitzkrieg on Justice. The protests are succeeding:
● Year to date, Tesla’s stock has plunged 41%, and analysts say stock could sink 50%.
● Tesla reported its first-ever drop in global sales. In California, the largest EV market in the U.S., Tesla registrations have dropped nearly 12%, while registrations for all other brands have increased by 1.4%.
Also, I can tell that you have not been to a protest. For an uplifting experience, go to the Protest at Tesla dealership in Tucson, April 12 @ 8:30 am – 10:00 am MST, 5081 N. Oracle Rd. (at River Road), Tucson, Arizona. The good news is that the protests are all over the news, Trump is also losing in court with Kris Mayes filing and getting restraining orders in a dozen cases — read Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes Sues Trump Regime to Restore Grants for Public Health
I tried to donate $100 to blog for AZ, but it didn’t seem like it went through…let me know if you got it…or not.
