Obama: Romney’s come down with a case of ‘Romnesia’
Posted by AzBlueMeanie:
President Obama in Virginia today uses a comic riff to mock Willard "Mittens" Romney's eleventh-hour attempt to recast himself as the mythical "Moderate Mitt" and pretend to shed his "severe conservative" skin. The Obama campaign has found a humorous way to hold the shameless shapeshifter and pathological liar accountable for his flip-flop-flip-flop on every conceivable issue.
Steve Benen has the transcript. 'I think it's called … Romnesia':
There are a lot of ways to go after a rival, some more aggressive and abrasive than others, but to paint an opponent as someone who deserves to be literally laughed at may be the most brutal approach of them all.
Here's the transcript:
"But now that we're 18 days out from the election, Mr. 'Severely Conservative' wants you to think he was 'severely kidding' about everything he's said over the last year. He told folks he was 'the ideal candidate' for the Tea Party, now suddenly he's saying, 'what, who, me?' He's forgetting what his own positions are, and he's betting that you will too.
"I mean he's changing up so much, backtracking and sidestepping. We've gotta name this condition that he's going through. I think it's called "Romnesia." That's what it's called. I think that's what he's going through.
"Now, I'm not a medical doctor but I do want to go over some of the symptoms with you — because I want to make sure nobody else catches it.
"If you say you're for equal pay for equal work, but you keep refusing to say whether or not you'd sign a bill that protects equal pay for equal work — you might have Romnesia.
"If you say women should have access to contraceptive care, but you support legislation that would let your employer deny you contraceptive care — you might have a case of Romnesia.
"If you say you'll protect a woman's right to choose, but you stand up at a primary debate and said that you'd be "delighted" to sign a law outlawing that right to choose in all cases — man, you've definitely got Romnesia.
Obama campaign ad: ‘Seen’
Posted by AzBlueMeanie:
The Obama campaign responds to Mitt Romney's flat-out lie in his new ad that he has never supported banning all abortions with a new ad entitled "Seen," which includes video of Mittens Romney saying he would be "delighted to sign" a bill outlawing all abortion. Romney acts like he has never heard of those newfangled inventions like sound recordings and moving picture film and the "tee-vee" and the Internet. Description:
Voiceover:
"Seen this from Mitt Romney? Then take a look at this:"
Anderson Cooper:
"If
Roe v. Wade was overturned, Congress passed a federal ban on all
abortions, and it came to your desk — would you sign it? 'Yes', or
'no?'"
Mitt Romney:
"Let me say it: I'd be delighted to sign that bill."
Voiceover:
"Banning all abortions?"
Mitt Romney:
"I'd be delighted to sign that bill."
Voiceover:
"Trying to mislead us? That's wrong. But ban all abortions? Only…if you vote for him."

GOP war on Voting: Nathan Sproul supervisor arrested for tossing Democratic voter registrations in Virginia
Posted by AzBlueMeanie:
The Arizona Republic finally got around to reporting on Arizona's own GOP voter suppression specialist Nathan Sproul yesterday, and largely glossed over his misdeeds (frequent allegations, but never prosecuted by the Bush Injustice Department). Ariz. political operative in spotlight:
Sproul now finds himself making national political news again as another of his voter-registration companies, Strategic Allied Consulting, has been accused of submitting possible fraudulent voter-registration forms to a number of Florida counties.
Keith Kameg, spokesman for Florida's Department of Law Enforcement, declined to specify how many counties the allegations involve, saying the case is an active criminal investigation that "precludes us from providing further information."
Sproul was working on behalf of the Republican National Committee to register voters to help Romney in a key battleground state. The GOP committee last month fired Sproul, who said he's cooperating with Florida authorities and blames the problem on a few rogue employees. Sproul added the "number of counties and cards in question are contracting."

Sproul said his company hires temporary workers at $12 to $17 an hour to register Republicans by asking people outside libraries and other public places who they support in the election. If the person supports Romney, the worker asks if the person is registered to vote, and registers them if they are not.
If the person supports Obama, the worker moves on without offering to register the individual to vote, Sproul said.
Sproul said his employees are trained on campaign- finance laws, and he said his company has turned in employees who break the law.
After Sproul's firm was fired in Florida, it has continued to operate under new names, The BRAD BLOG : 'Fired' GOP Operative Sproul's Companies Appear Still Hard at Work for GOP; Members of Congress Seek Explanation in Election Fraud Investigation.
