It is increasingly apparent that the autocratic wing of the Republican Party has members that also belong to its dumb and dumber one.
Arizona House Congressional District (CD) Four Election Denier-Coup Plotting-Conspiracy Theory Lover-Trump Zone resident-My family will not vote for me “Representative” Paul Gosar is one of them.
Fresh off appearing at a White Nationalist event whose speakers glorified the Trumpist Domestic Terrorist Attack on January 6, 2021, revelations that he had the most provocative social media posts that led to that attempted insurrection, and a request that he be investigated for his part in that event, Mr. Gosar has decided the next prudent thing he could do is appear on Patriots Soapbox, a Q’Anon supported online talk show.
According to reporting by AZ Mirror’s Jerod MacDonald-Evoy, Radix Verum, host of a show called Digging Deeper on Patriots’ Soapbox, said:
“He (Gosar) has taken a stand against the conservative establishment to support #AmericaFirst and he never wavered. Let’s show him our support. Let him know you have his back!”
Reaction to Gosar’s latest social media decision has taken familiar turns.
Arizona Democratic Party Spokesperson Alex Alvarez commented:
“It’s no surprise that Gosar is attending events hosted by fringe, extremist groups — especially when he, along with Andy Biggs, were both named by Ali Alexander as possible organizers of the January 6th rally. Republicans are showing Arizonans their radical, far-right views, including embracing conspiracy theories and actively pushing misinformation.”
Delina DiSanto, the 2020 Democratic CD Four Nominee against Gosar wrote:
“Several news media platforms state Paul Gosar will plan to go on a right-wing QAnon Soapbox talk show with host Radix Verum. Her husband is Coleman Rogers, one of the originators of QAnon and a huge conspiracy theorist. According to thehill.com and vice.com, Gosar’s digital director denies he will be showing up on the show “Digging Deeper”.
If Gosar does attend this show or any show promoting QAnon, the government overthrow movement, proves Gosar is driving his supporters to the right fringe of crazy. I have said that Gosar is a danger to our state and nation. Now if he continues to reach into the depths of QAnon, conspiracy theories, continue engagement with Proud Boys and Oathkeepers, and plunge into the fanatical movement for a civil war, he must be expelled from Congress and possible mental health assessments.
We can always disagree on policy, but we cannot embark on destroying & dividing our country because you want to get your own way. That path is toxic and narcissistic.”
The Remove Paul Gosar group also released a statement that read:
“Paul Gosar is the point person for pushing the envelope that legitimizes his authoritarian fascism. After organizing the Stop the Steal rallies, spreading the #BigLie, and decertifying the election in Congress he continued to push the bounds of the acceptable within the GOP. As the first sitting Congressman to speak at the AFPAC conference hosted by White Supremacist and Holocaust Denier Nick Fuentes. Paul Gosar is leading the charge to bring extremism and bigotry into the Overton window of acceptability. Just over a year ago Paul Gosar was one of the first elected officials to use the phrase ‘Wuhan Virus’. Graham Brookie of the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab stated in an article in The Hill a year ago that “Within an hour of the congressman’s tweet at 9:08pm, the phrases had been retweeted 24,049 times.” Paul Gosar’s appearance on another extreme delusional far-right digital platform should not be seen as an anomaly or met with surprise. It is consistent with his past behavior and predictive of future behavior. Paul Gosar does not have his head on right. There is no rehabilitation here. Mr. Gosar needs to be recognized as a genuine threat to the traditions of our democratic republic and continuously challenged for his advocacy of extreme bigotry. We can all participate in this process by contacting his funders and demanding that they #RemovePaulGosar from their funding lists. Matt Grodsky, Vice President and Director of Public Affairs for Matters of State Strategies, wrote:
“This is consistent for Gosar, who has a track record of cozying up to right-wing extremists and white nationalists. We still don’t know all the answers about Gosar’s involvement in the January 6th attack, but we do know with certainty that he remains an embarrassment for our state and an ever-present threat to our nation’s democratic ideals.”
What will it take for the people in CD Four to be convinced that Paul Gosar is not the right person to represent them or anyone else in Arizona or the country?
He does nothing to help them and he supports an ideology that goes against the core of the American Ideal.
He should be politically removed as soon as possible and replaced by someone who is a true public servant.
UPDATE: AZ Mirror reports that Representative Gosar has decided not to appear on the Q’Anon Network.
Someone must have convinced Mr. Gosar that this was not the wisest media appearance to show up for.
Give that person a raise.
