There have been more reaction among other Arizona Democrats toward the Biden/Harris American Jobs Plan that would modernize and rebuild the nation’s infrastructure.
Alex Alvarez, the spokesperson for the Arizona Democratic Party wrote:
“There is no reason why the US should rank 13th globally in overall infrastructure quality. President Biden’s American Jobs Plan will create millions of good-paying jobs and rebuild our country’s infrastructure.”
Bonnie Heidler, the Chairperson for the Pima County Democratic Party commented:
“The American Jobs-Infrastructure Plan would not only bring good paying jobs to Arizona, but it would bring broadband access to rural Arizonans. Having access to broadband levels the playing field. Now rural Arizonans will have the same opportunities as everyone else in Arizona has. And, it is not just jobs and broadband, but so many other opportunities.
For example, our roads and bridges have needed repair for decades. Republicans have been kicking this can down the road for decades. In fact, when they held all three branches of government, they kept trying to have “Infrastructure Week”, which never got off the ground. What this has done is put America behind and less competitive, while China has been moving forward technologically. And, it will revitalize manufacturing.
There is a human care side to it, too. Seniors and disabled American’s care will be improved. Schools will be modernized and child care facilities built to help working families. So many Arizonans will be helped with this plan…and it is about time.”
Arizona House Congressional District One Representative Tom O’Halleran relayed:
“Providing clean drinking water, rebuilding our nation’s roads, ensuring all Arizonans have access to high-speed broadband, investing in our aging energy systems, and rebuilding our health care infrastructure are essential to ensuring American competitiveness throughout the 21st century, especially as our communities recover from the coronavirus pandemic. I am eager to see the evolution of the American Jobs Plan and urge the president and Congressional leadership to prioritize the needs of long-overlooked rural and tribal areas like so many in Arizona’s First Congressional District.”
Arizona Legislative District Ten State Senator Kirsten Engel, in a presser with Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, also voiced support for the measure, saying that infrastructure, especially in relation to climate change is:
“A top concern for all my constituents. The climate crisis is affecting health, lives, and safety. Specifically, the 26-year water drought is hurting all facets of Arizona life when coupled with the record heat and numbers of wildfires…We need to act boldly to combat the climate crisis and we need to do it now…This (the American Jobs Plan) will be an important step to helping stop climate change.”
The American Jobs Plan will have a tremendous effect on the infrastructure, health, safety, and future of the people in Arizona, across the country, and around the world.
- Children will have cleaner water to drink.
- A serious attempt to combat the climate crisis will be undertaken.
- There would be a further shift to clean energy usage including a sizable investment in electric vehicles and charging stations.
- High-quality and affordable broadband will be universal.
- Roads, bridges, railways, airports, and the electric grid will be modernized and rebuilt.
- Rural and minority communities will get the attention they desperately need.
- Seniors and the disabled would receive better access to home care.
- There would be extensive environmental cleanups of abandoned mines and oil/gas wells.
How can anyone be against any of that?
