AFL-CIO National Day of Action
Join the Maricopa Area Labor Federation on April 4th as we participate in a national day of action.
This day of action is in honor of Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was standing with sanitation workers demanding their dream of a better life. Today, the right to bargain collectively for a voice at work and a middle-class life are under attack as never before.
Cesar Chavez was a labor leader from Arizona who strongly promoted the American labor movement and helped enroll members. His public-relations approach to unionism and aggressive but nonviolent tactics made the farm workers' struggle a moral cause with nationwide support.
Join us to stand in solidarity with working people in Wisconsin and dozens of other states where corporate-bought politicians are trying to take away the rights Dr. King and Cesar Chavez fought so hard to protect.
When: Monday April 4th 11a.m. – 1 p.m.
Where: IBEW LU 640 | 5808 N. 7th St. Phoenix, AZ 85014
Lunch will be provided, donations are accepted.
Please RSVP via this webpage by March 31st.
