Ansari and Kelly Advance The Benefits of Science to Rebut Trump and MAGA-Project 2025 Cutbacks and Denialism

With science and climate change denying Donald Trump and his MAGA-Project 2025 apostates in the Executive and Legislative Branch taking a blowtorch to projects at the Environmental Protection Agency, Energy Department, and N.A.S.A. to advance their war on science and give a leg up to Chinese technological advancement, Arizona House Representative Yassamin Ansari and Senator Mark Kelly released social media videos showing the American People the economic and lifestyle benefits to them from the projects MAGA would destroy.

In a House hearing, Representative Ansari quizzed three witnesses on the benefits of clean energy projects the Trump back to the Fossil Fuel Dark Age team is seeking to undermine like the improvement of the electric grid and offshore wind turbines.

Please see the transcript of the exchange below.

Representative Ansari: “Mr Harold. Do you believe that with good grid management and things like battery storage that wind and solar can be a reliable source of electricity? Yes or no?”

Mr Harold. “We absolutely should be investing in all sources of clean energy to develop a reliable energy system to meet our needs.”

Representative Ansari: “Thank you. Mr Hochman. Do you believe that with good good management and things like battery storage that wind and solar can be a reliable source of electricity?”

Mr. Hochman: “I do.”

Representative Ansari: “Thank you, Mr Loris.”

Mr. Loris: “Yeah, absolutely. I think with renewables what we’ve heard is, they’re reliably unreliable. And so, with the proper storage or whether it’s natural gas, we can have an a system with low cost clean energy generation, including wind and solar.”

Representative Ansari: “Thank you great! I agree, the administration officials who have come here before us so far seem to forget the batteries do exist, but I’ll move on. Mr Harold, do you agree that fully permitted and reviewed energy projects; Let’s use offshore wind as an example that are mere months away from providing affordable, reliable power to the electricity grid should be allowed to finish construction, yes or no?”

Mr. Harold: “Absolutely. We need to predictable regulatory process.”

Representative Ansari: “Thank you, Mr Hochman.”

Mr. Hochman: “Yeah, I support, making it easier to bring new electrons onto the grid.”

Representative Ansari: “Thank you and Mr Loris.”

Mr. Loris: “Yeah, I do. I think the the use of both preemptive vetoes and retroactive vetoes has been problematic and creates a lot of uncertainty in our ability to invest and build all types of energy sources.”

Earlier in the week, Representative Ansari also released a social media video, highlighting an affordability agenda bill, co sponsored with Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey to combat extreme heat and reduce utility costs, especially air conditioning bills during the hottest months of the year for consumers.

Appearing with the Science Guy Bill Nye, Senator Mark Kelly, using building blocks as a prop explained the shortsighted attitude of Trump and MAGA-Project 2025 toward gutting NASA science projects.

Please read the discussion between Mr. Nye and Senator Kelly below:

Bill Nye: Greetings! Bill Nye here. I’m in Senator Mark Kelly’s office to talk about something really important.”

Senator Kelly: “Scientific research at NASA is in danger.”

Bill Nye: “NASA science and Innovation is like this tower. Every block piece by piece, built over decades, Earth Science.”

Senator Kelly: “Astrophysics.”

Bill Nye: “Planetary science.”

Senator Kelly: “Space exploration.”

Bill Nye: “All of it, building on what came before and expanding our knowledge.”

Senator Kelly: But when you start pulling out support.”

Bill Nye: “Getting rid of thousands of NASA’s most experienced engineers and scientists.”

Senator Kelly: “Threatening to cancel space missions that have been years or even decades in the making.”

The blocks come tumbling down.

Mr. Nye: “It breaks.”

Senator Kelly: Gutting NASA science. It’s a bad idea.”

Mr. Nye: “So please, if you want to support NASA and science, join us in speaking out.”
