Senator Sinema (I – Venture Capital) has announced she is not running for re-election, which likely means she’s found a multi-million dollar landing pad somewhere(s). That’s great news for Ruben Gallego. Despite polling showing that Sinema wouldn’t have have a appreciable effect on the election (as nobody wants to vote for Sinema anymore on either side of the aisle), a clear choice between utter nuts and a veteran who stands up for the people of Arizona is a much better race for Ruben.
Said Sinema on X:
I have seldom seen such a self-righteous, self-pitying display in all of politics. Kyrsten, it’s not that we don’t want compromise or civility in our politics, it’s just that we don’t want rank hypocrites who put their donors above the interests of the constituents. At least not so as everyone with neuronal activity can tell at a glance…

One term US Senator Sinema did serve one good purpose by defeating then Congresswoman Republican Martha McSally for this US Senate seat, back in Nov. 2018. But shortly thereafter Republican Gov. Ducey appointed McSally to the other Senate seat.
Girlfriend isn’t exactly getting what she deserves. Let’s face it, she could give a Master Class in power grabbing, taking “legal” bribes from wealthy donors and meticulously delivering their goods. All of this while claiming to be the sanctimonious one, the one who did so much for the good of the nation but isn’t appreciated because the haters just want to wallow in hate on social media.
Sinema’s little speech is just so condescending and stupid it is not worthy of our time. It’s remarkable that she would put this out there as though no one would remember what she really did for the people who elected her. I keep thinking of those volunteers who knocked on 2.5 million doors.
I guess we’ll have to wait for Karma to catch up with her. Girlfriend will bag the 10.5 million dollars in her Getting Stuff Done PAC. She’ll be paid millions more for her loyalty and very effective obstruction of the Democratic agenda. She might even find a new world where she can be the center of attention.
Right now we’re just glad to be rid of her. But what she did shouldn’t be rewarded.
Kate Riga at Talking Points Memo nicely sums our “favorite” Senator’s political career:
“Just one Senate term into the political career of a once-promising young politician, a series of self-inflicted, often baffling, missteps left her with no choice but to announce her impending departure.
In a video replete with her own accomplishments — “I believe in my approach. But, it’s not what America wants right now” — she on Tuesday delivered her constituents a final “it’s not me, it’s you” farewell. ”

Charles Pierce has a few choice comments:
“I don’t know about you, but my life seems terribly empty and without meaning now.
From NBC News:
“Because I choose civility, understanding, listening, working together to get stuff done, I will leave the Senate at the end of this year.”
“I am far too good a human being to be part of the institution to which I had no chance of being re-elected. So, adios, motherfckers. Fox News or the Kennedy School await.”
Public service is so ennobling.
“There was more whining along the same theme—I, Kyrsten Sinema, Am Far Too Dedicated To The Aristotelian Ideals Of Politics And Government To Remain In The Company Of These Barbarians:
“Compromise is a dirty word. We’ve arrived at that crossroad, and we chose anger and division. I believe in my approach, but it’s not what America wants right now.”
How dare you let this person down, America?”

All I can say is: Good Riddance!
What an opportunity Sinema missed.
Along with her being the first openly bi Senator, from a homeless family, she could have been in the history books for saving Roe, healthcare, voting rights, getting the parasite class to pay their fair share in taxes, raising the minimum wage to help support working families.
She could have voted against fossil fuel companies but instead voted down the Green New Deal.
She could have voted against big pharma and banks instead of taking their money.
She could have shown her support for democracy by ending the anti-democratic filibuster.
Gawwwwwwwdamn, is there anything in her recent bio that says Dem?
Instead of doing so many good things, she decided to flaunt her corruption and sell out.
Which makes zero sense, former Senators make lots of money, just giving speeches alone she could have made millions.
Same for landing a gig on some company’s board of directors, whatever, she had the whole world at her door.
She didn’t need to sell us all out for her own personal greed, she was set for life already.
WTF? WTAF?????
Those of us who for years said she was bad news are still shocked at just how evil she turned out to be.
Next time a Senator from New York, aka a Wall Street Senator, sends us their thoughts, let’s be ready to give them a big fat middle finger, in honor of Sinema doing that to us.
I should be happy about this but it’s just too f’n sad.
This useless creep’s votes have harmed real people and will continue to harm Americans for years to come.
GawdFuckinDamnIt. She could have been something great.
“She could have been something great.”
Yeah sure, if she were an entirely different person.
In my more charitable moments, that are actually quite rare these days, I think of Sinema as an example of the horrible things that childhood poverty can do to people.
I never had great hopes for her but I didn’t expect her to sell out either. However, I will say that Sinema is the last time I will be shamed into voting for “the one who can win.” I’m going to vote or not vote however sits right with my conscience.
“I think of Sinema as an example of the horrible things that childhood poverty can do to people”
No matter one’s impoverished or wealthy background it all comes down to individual character. The allegedly homeless Sinema child turned out to have the same selfish values as the fabulously wealthy former guy brat.
A final note (of alarm) on Sinema from Howie Klein:
I doubt many people have wasted more time writing about Kyrsten Sinema than I have. When I first met her she was still in the Arizona state legislature and we served on a non-profit board together. It didn’t take me long to figure out she was completely deranged and one of the most self-serving opportunists I had ever met. I steered clear. Very much like Trump, she believes in nothing but herself, nor has she ever… at least in the time since I met her. In the U.S. House, she became chair of the Blue Dogs and ran up the single worst record of any Democrat in Congress. That immediately attracted the attention of Chuck Schumer, the. Head of the DSCC, who cleared the field so she could run for the Senate. (Everything she’s done since then should be blamed on him.)
The last legitimate poll before she announced her retirement was done by Emerson. Like every legitimate poll, they found her struggling in third place, below Ruben Gallego (D) and Kari Lake (MAGA). She has an immense trove of opposition research on Gallego, who she hates intensely. I wonder if she’ll slip it to Lake. I wouldn’t put it past her.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if she gave her Gallego oppo research to Lake. When I hung out at the lege, it was pretty common knowledge that she and Gallego couldn’t stand each other.
Actually, most of her colleagues there couldn’t stand her.
Howie Klein is the Go To Guy for a deeper understanding of the Sinema debacle.
And the only reason to pursue that is to keep it from happening again.
It should be a hard lesson learned for Democrats although it’s doubtful that the one most responsible, Chuck Schumer, thinks it was a mistake. IMHO, he should be gone too.
Great article by HK. Should be read in its entirety.
The Senate seat is now safe in Arizona.
It should be, but it isn’t. Not as long as “both sides-erism” exists.
