In a world where Donald Trump and his MAGA-Project 2025 apostates are arbitrarily cancelling Congressionally approved funding projects they do not like through recession with the government open and their willingness to decide MAGA winners and apparent Democratic losers if a shutdown occurs next week, Democrats have nothing to lose by framing the debate of not agreeing to Republican attempts to keep the government open on the backs of the poor and middle class taxpayers who they screwed by cutting essential health and food assistance programs in order to fund unneeded tax cuts for the ultra wealthy.
Furthermore, the Mad King in the Oval Office is pushing the government toward a shutdown with his refusal to meet with Democratic leaders Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, cancelling an appointment with them, justifying his position with a multi-lying post saying that the Democratic position would mean paying health care for illegal immigrants, open the borders, and make opportunities for transgender athletes.
All lies similar to the streams of false fecal matter the serial liar made in his address to the United Nations today which will probably go down as the most embarrassing to the nation from an American Leader to that international body.
Arizona’s Democratic Congressional Delegation responded to Trumps lies and unwillingness to negotiate by telling the people that if there is a shutdown, it is the person who bankrupted a casino and his MAGA supply side plutocratic allies in Congress that will be to blame.
Appearing on the Stephen Colbert Show, Senator Mark Kelly said:
“This is a fight over the cost of your health care. That’s all this is about. The President says no. He says he would prefer a government shutdown. No to fixing the problem with the cost of premiums if you buy your health care on the exchange. That’s the fight right now. So it’s not a fight of whether to keep the government open or not. There are many of us that want to reduce the cost of your health care that this President when he passed that big bill made a lot worse. And people are seeing these health care premiums go up substantially. They’re already getting letters and its unaffordable for people.
Senator Ruben Gallego posted:
“Trump just canceled his meeting with Democratic leaders. He isn’t even pretending to try to keep the government open. He doesn’t care if it shuts down. Just like he doesn’t care about ripping healthcare away from millions of people.”
In comments to Ronald Hansen from AZ Central, Representatives Yassamin Ansari and Greg Stanton blamed Trump and Congressional Republicans hardline stance against restoring health care assistance for bringing on the possible shutdown.
Representative Ansari said:
“There’s been no negotiation so far so if there is a government shutdown, it is entirely on Donald Trump and Republicans who are refusing to sit down at a negotiating table and … fix the issues that matter most to Americans.”
Representative Stanton offered:
“I don’t presume at all that we are going to have a shutdown, and very much want to avoid a shutdown. But we are going to stand up for our values, and our values are protecting health care. We see this health care cliff right in front of us…Look, Republicans control the House, the Senate, the White House. Instead of working in good faith with Democrats to negotiate a bipartisan budget deal that saves American families money, they sent us all home.”
