Arizona Democratic Battleground Congressional Candidates and Whoopi Goldberg React to Pretti Murder/Execution

Several of Arizona’s leading Congressional Candidates in battleground districts reacted to the horrific and unprovoked ICE-Black Shirt-Gestapo murder/execution of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis last Saturday.

Arizona Congressional District (CD) Six Candidate JoAnna Mendoza posted:

In Arizona CD One, Marlene Galán-Woods wrote:

“Enough is enough. Another person has been shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis just weeks after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good, and we still don’t have accountability. We need thorough, transparent investigations involving state and local law enforcement and an end to masked, heavily armed, undertrained ICE agents terrorizing our communities.

These agents are making our streets more dangerous – not less. We cannot continue to have one law enforcement agency with completely different standards in training and accountability.”

Her main rival, 2024 Congressional Nominee Dr. Amish Shah posted:

“It is sickening to hear that yet another U.S. citizen has been killed by federal agents in Minneapolis.

Americans voted for our immigration laws to be enforced; they didn’t vote for the lawlessness and reckless violence that our federal government has unleashed in this city. We need a full, immediate investigation.”

In Arizona, CD Two, former Navajo President Jonathan Nez, reacting to both the shooting and MAGA incumbent Eli Crane’s insane suggestion that Mr. Trump invoke the Insurrection Act, offered in a campaign press statement:

“What has unfolded over the last few weeks in Minnesota and across the country is heartbreaking and wrong.

I believe in secure borders and keeping our communities safe. I don’t believe in masked, heavily armed, and undertrained federal agents targeting American citizens.

As an indigenous American and former tribal leader, I am particularly troubled that first Americans, here in Arizona and around the country, have been detained.

The loss of American citizens’ lives is unacceptable – and this moment demands leaders across our country to end the violence and calm rising tensions.

That’s why I am so disturbed that Congressman Crane is calling for more incitement and escalation. This is a difficult moment in our time, but it is also a defining one. Our children are watching and listening, and they will remember how we chose to respond. We must continue to unite through our faith, compassion, and teachings. Our ancestors did not sacrifice so much and fight so hard for us to live in fear or silence.”

In her commentary, Whoopi Goldberg is right when she says ICE and the people who run them have “Blood on Their Hands.”
