Arizona Democrats React to Mad King-American Duce Wannabe Trump Wanting to Take Away Mail-In Voting

In yet another posting on truth social filled with falsehoods and outlandish big lie statements, Liar in Chief, Felon in Chief, American Duce Wannabe, Twice Impeached, and Mad King Donald Trump has again threatened to undo the foundations of the American Democratic Republic by issuing an Executive Order that would Unconstitutionally strip away people’s ability to vote by mail.

During a White House Oval Office event with Ukraine’s leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Mr. Trump made several more outlandish and chilling statements including:

  • He wants to get rid of mail in ballots because they help Democrats turn out their vote more than Republicans.
  • Mail in voting is replete with fraud. Newsflash: It is not.
  • Election officials in Florida asked him to show them his car license plate number.
  • A subtle wish that if there was a war involving the United States, he could cancel elections. Wrong again. This country held elections when this country was involved in World War Two, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. There is no problem holding elections in this country during war time.

According to Trump, it was conversing with his political boyfriend and dictator bestie Putin that convinced him now was the time to launch a crusade against mail in voting.

Trump and Putin are like those two American Neo Nazi’s where the driver (Trump) confess his love for his leader (Putin) towards the end of The Blue Brothers.

It needs to be noted again that nothing Mr. Liar in Chief said was true. Mail in voting has virtually no fraud and it is a popular method of casting ballots in the developed world, including Russia.

Arizona’s Democratic State leaders quickly pushed back on Mr. Trump’s Unconstitutional assertions.

Governor Hobbs Press Secretary Liliana Soto

Liliana Soto, the Press Secretary for Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs commented to Blog for Arizona:

“As Arizona’s former chief elections officer, Governor Hobbs has always been dedicated to ensuring secure and accessible elections. Arizona has a long history of securely voting by mail, a system enacted by bipartisan elected officials. Governor Hobbs strongly opposes any efforts to limit Arizonans’ freedom to vote and make their voices heard, and she will work to uphold those rights.

“The Governor is committed to maintaining a voting process that is fair, safe, and accessible to all eligible voters. Any proposal that threatens Arizonans’ ability to participate in the election process is deeply concerning to her and something she takes very seriously.”

Governor Hobbs later posted:

“Voting by mail is a trusted Arizona tradition, created by Republicans and used by most Arizonans. As governor, I’ll always protect it so that every eligible Arizonan can have their voice heard.”

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes

Wasting no time this morning, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes issued several social media posts, condemning the Mad King and American Duce Wannabes latest proposal to turn the clock back on American Democracy, writing:

“I’ve been warning about this for years. The canary is dead.”

“Art I sec 4 clause 1:
“The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations…”
–>No President mentioned.”

“If anyone ever tells you this: Remember, the States are merely an “agent” for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them they’re wrong.”

I don’t work for the President. I work for the people of Arizona. This is a complete betrayal of what it means to be a Federal Republic.”

Later, Secretary Fontes issued a statement where he stressed:

“Mail-in voting has been a cornerstone of secure and accessible elections in Arizona for years. It was created by Republicans to help seniors, veterans, and rural voters — and it’s supported across party lines because it works.”

“I do not work for the President. I work for Arizona. The U.S. was built by states, not ruled from the top down. The President’s rhetoric offends our Constitution, our democracy, and the people of this state.”

Abandoning this trusted system for one man’s political ambitions is un-American, unconstitutional, and unacceptable. We do not cancel elections. We do not silence voters. And we do not let personal grievances undermine Democracy.”

Now is not the time for silence. It’s time to stand up — for Arizona, for the Constitution, and for the truth.”

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes echoed several of Fontes themes, writing:

“Arizonans have safely and securely voted by mail for decades, ever since the Republican-led legislature approved it in the 1990’s. Donald Trump wants to rip away that right based on lies and conspiracies. But he has zero authority to interfere in Arizona’s elections. I will vigorously fight any unlawful attempt by the federal government to tell Arizona how we can administer our elections.”

Arizona’s Congressional Democrats also condemned Mr. Trump’s Un American move.

Representative Yassamin Ansari

Yassamin Ansari posted:

“Well good morning. Wannabe dictator Trump will stop at nothing. Now pushing another unhinged scheme to rig elections before the midterms. The urgency of re-electing Secretary of State@Adrian_Fontes in Arizona in 2026 cannot be overstated.”

Arizona Representative Greg Stanton

Representative Greg Stanton commented in two posts:

In Arizona, vote-by-mail is indispensable. More than 75% of voters cast their ballots early, most by mail. Seniors, military families, and veterans overseas rely on it. Eliminating mail-in voting would silence the voices of Arizonans who depend on this voting method.”

Trump is trying to disenfranchise your vote. Republicans are gerrymandering, cutting back early voting, and attacking secure voting machines. Now he wants to eliminate mail-in voting — so secure and popular that nearly half of Americans use it, including Donald Trump himself.”

Senator Mark Kelly

Senator Mark Kelly wrote:

“It’s been 105 years since America finally gave women the constitutional right to vote, a milestone that launched decades more struggle until women across the country could fully exercise that right. That only happened because of a lot of brave, patriotic Americans. We have to carry on that legacy as we keep fighting to defend the right to vote.”

Senator Ruben Gallego

Senator Ruben Gallego issued two posts on his social media sites which conveyed:

“Around 80% of Arizonans vote by mail. It’s how deployed soldiers vote overseas. It’s how disabled seniors make their voices heard. It’s how busy parents find the time to cast their ballot. It’s safe, secure, and it works. We won’t let Trump take it away.”

Our soldiers deployed overseas vote by mail. They put their lives on the line for us, but Trump doesn’t think they deserve to vote.”

Arizona’s Legislative Democratic Leaders also voiced their displeasure with Trump’s latest Un Democratic antics.

State Senator Priya Sundareshan. Photo from the Daily Independent.

Senate Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan commented to Blog for Arizona.

“Trump continues his efforts to rig the 2026 midterm elections with his latest social media screed attacking mail-in ballots and voting machines. In doing so, he repeats misinformation he claims he heard from Russian President Putin – who Trump apparently views as an expert on US elections and unquestioningly accepts as a trustworthy authority instead of an adversary of the United States. This is yet another attempt by Trump to rig the 2026 midterm elections, following his command to Texas Republicans to gerrymander their congressional districts to create fewer Democratic seats. Arizonans overwhelmingly vote by mail, and we know that voting by mail is a safe and secure method of voting – and not only that, was originally promoted in our state by Republicans. Arizonans will not accept unconstitutional federal interference in our state-determined voting methods.”

Senator Analise Ortiz.

Senator and Ranking Member on the Senate Elections Committee Analise Ortiz also stated to Blog for Arizona:

Voting by mail is essential for senior citizens, disabled Arizonans, and Indigenous and rural communities. And it’s beloved by millions of other voters because it’s just plain simple, convenient, and secure. In Trump’s quest to become a dictator, he is brazenly threatening to rip voters of their voices. Arizonans love our mail-in ballots and he is sorely mistaken if he thinks we will allow him to trample on our democracy without a fight.”

Arizona Democratic House Leader Oscar De Los Santos.

Democratic House Leader Oscar De Los Santos relayed to the Blog:

Trump knows he and Republicans are going to lose big in 2026. Prices for household goods are skyrocketing because of his tariffs, his Big Ugly Bill will strip healthcare away from millions, and his mass deportation agenda and authoritarian takeover of cities are deeply unpopular and are driving us toward a recession. The only way Republicans can stop what’s coming is to cheat by radically gerrymandering red states like Texas and to make sure you don’t cast a ballot by trying to end vote by mail.

“In Arizona, about 80 percent of voters from all parties use and prefer our secure and convenient vote-by-mail and early voting system. The cost to counties to get rid of early voting and voting machines would be astronomical and disastrous to election integrity. That is why Governor Hobbs has consistently vetoed any efforts by Republicans to degrade election integrity just because they don’t like the election results.

Again, Trump is pushing America deeper into authoritarianism, and to do that, democracy must end. He and his Republican supplicants are ignoring the Constitution and trying to undermine the most effective way for the American people to fight back, at the ballot box.”

Third Way Senior Director of Communications Kate deGruyter

Third Way Communications Director Kate deGruyter framed what Trump is doing very well, commenting to Blog of Arizona:

Trump is terrified of losing. His support is cratering, he signed a disastrous budget that rewards the ultra-rich at the expense of the vulnerable, and rather than face reality, he chooses to embrace ridiculous, easily disproven lies. Millions of Americans, including many in rural Western states, members of the military, and working people who struggle to vote on Election Day benefit from mail-in voting. Democrats will fight any effort to block American citizens from casting their ballots. Patriotic Republicans should be joining them in that fight.”

Trump’s banana republic attacks on ballots and voting machines are an attempt to distract from the battle of ideas that his party is sure to lose. Donald Trump and Republicans should be on notice that when you make it harder for American workers, families, and businesses to get by, they will vote you out. That’s not fraud, it’s freedom.”
