Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman Reacts to State Republican’s Latest Votes Discriminating Against Children

AZ Blue Meanie already reported earlier today (March 24, 2022,) that Republicans in the Arizona State House passed two measures, SB1138 and SB1165, that would:

  • Ban certain types of medical care for transgender youth.
  • Prevent transgender athletes from participating in school sports.

This is sickening that a major political party and its leaders would strive to enact policies that harm innocent children by denying them the medical care they need or allow them to enrich themselves in school athletic competitions.

Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman repeated her opposition and disgust with the passage of these measures by posting on social media after the passage of these two draconian anti-child measures:

As Superintendent Hoffman and others have written, hopefully Governor Ducey will follow the lead of the Republican Governors of North Dakota, Indiana, and Utah and veto these two measures that are built on hate, intolerance, and ignorance.

There is no place in Arizona or anywhere else in the country for legalized bigotry and discrimination against anyone, including innocent children who have done nothing wrong.

This is another example of how the members of the former party of Lincoln should not be entrusted with the responsibility of governing.

What political party, whose members salivate on harming children, should be allowed to thrive.

The people who voted for these acts of maliciousness should be thrown out by the voters this November.

There should be no place in public service for individuals who hold such vile views.
