Been to the gas station lately?
Or driven by any, and notice a 50-cent increase at the pump?
This is all thanks to Donald Trump and his ill-conceived war against Iran, which is being conducted without any coherent fact-based rationale and apparently has no endgame design.
While the war of Trump’s choice is going on, Arizonans and Americans are struggling at the gas pump at a time when Mr. Trump’s also ill-conceived tariffs are increasing costs on the people in other national economic sectors.
Over the weekend, Mr. Trump dispatched his regime loyalists like Energy Secretary Chris Wright across the Sunday Morning Talk Shows to “reassure” the American People that any increase at the gas pump is temporary and is worth the sacrifice.
This “reassurance” is brought to you by the man who helped bankrupt a casino and football league, destroyed the country with his pandemic mismanagement in his first term, and tried to stage a coup to stay in power.
This is also the same person who said he would bring prices down and end the war between Russia and Ukraine on day one.
Not a very reassuring source to most people by now.
While Trump fiddles with his Back to the Gilded Age and American Imperialism misadventures that aggravate the affordability crisis, resulting in Arizonans and Americans suffering financially, the people’s public servants, including those in Arizona, whose mindsets are grounded in reality, condemned his war of choice.
Arizona Senate Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan commented to Blog for Arizona:
“Trump’s war in Iran is raising gas prices and invalidating climate mitigation efforts to help Arizonans, and the entire world, live with clean air and water and livable temperatures. Americans are crying out for policies that would lower prices and Democrats are ready to deliver an Arizona we can afford, yet Republicans at every level are turning up their noses and ignoring the affordability crises that they are only making worse with every governing decision.”
Arizona House Democratic Leader Oscar De Los Santos also commented to Blog for Arizona:
“Gas prices are rising because Donald Trump chose war over working families. Big oil and corporate defense contractors are cashing in while Arizonans pay more at the pump. We need leaders focused on affordability, not reckless priorities that make life more expensive.”
Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego blasted Trump and his regimes war of choice against Iran in several posts including:
“Jobs down, Gas prices are up and we are at war. Trump is making the country sicker and poorer.”
“Apparently, no one in the White House thought starting a war in the Middle East might affect oil prices. Now families are paying the price at the pump for pure amateur hour. And their solution? Back off sanctions on Russia, while Russia helps Iran target American service members.”
“Trump broke his promise to refill the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve. He also broke his promise to stop foreign wars.
Now his pointless war in Iran has exposed American consumers to an oil price shock, and the U.S. can’t tap its reserves to limit cost increases.
This is what Donald Trump does. He breaks promises, and American families pay the price.”
Senator Mark Kelly posted the video below, condemning the rise of gas prices on Trump’s war of choice, saying, “Americans are paying for Trump’s bad decisions” and proposing the suspension of the federal gas tax to “give folks real relief.”
When voters get to decide their leaders in the next election, remember the political party that fought to reduce prices and help people.
Newsflash: It is not Donald Trump, and it is not Republicans.
