To the People of Arizona:
A group of Arizona “lawmakers” have outed themselves as the enemies of democracy in an open letter packed with lies, misinformation, and insurrection. They call for a baseless, illegal, and anti-democratic overthrow of our 2020 elections, in which, it must be noted, THEY were themselves elected.
If they sincerely believed that the election was corrupted and should be invalidated, they should resign immediately, because they hold their current positions due to a false election. They won’t, of course, because this is merely an entirely baseless attack on the credibility of American elections and a desperate and dangerous attempt to overthrow our legitimate government because it did not result in victory for their team in some offices. It is damning to any rational person’s mind that they only question the results of races they did not win.
These “lawmakers” claim they have “plenary power” to oversee the election of the President under the Constitution. What they are actually asserting is a radical and fringe interpretation of the Constitution that the state legislatures may at any time, for any reason, choose the electors for President. The state legislatures are directed by the Constitution to chose electors “in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct…” Every state legislature HAS directed by law that their electors be appointed by popular vote of the citizens. These “lawmakers” think the Constitution gives them the right to choose the electors against the wishes of voters. They believe, wrongly and treacherously, that they have the right to choose our President.
Of course, they also lie that ANY irregularity or fraud has been found by the legitimate and statutorily mandated audits of the Arizona election, or any American election in 2020. They also baldly lie about the fact that even the sham Arizona Fraudit carried out by the unqualified and partisan Cyber Ninjas (whose conclusions are without any force of law, and which no one should accept) found no significant difference from the legal counts, recounts, and audits.
On NO evidence whatever they call for “scrubbing” the voter roles of our nation (i.e. preventing the ‘wrong’ people from voting) and re-running the 2020 election for President in the House of Representatives (where Republicans just happen to have a one-vote advantage in House delegations).
They call for sham, extra-legal, and partisan fraudits in all 50 states. They want to undermine confidence in American elections and lie about the results, just as they have done in Arizona.
These “lawmakers” are traitors to democracy, propagandists for those who despise America’s democracy and want it undermined and destroyed, and deserve to be barred from holding any office of public trust. They must be defeated by loyal Americans who believe in democracy and freedom, not autocracy and tyranny.
Of course, they all hail from deeply Republican districts and are safe from accountability to the general electorate (except for possibly Wendy Rogers, where a Democrat might be able to prevail). Therefore it is up to REAL Republicans – those who love democracy more than power, who respect America’s elections and support the peaceful transfer of power based on the will of the voters, and who won’t join with the neo-fascist Trump faction trying to tear down democracy – to defeat these traitors in the ’22 Republican primaries.
Many other Republican state legislators have implicated themselves as enemies of democracy, but these have been so obliging as to put their names to a call for insurrection against democracy itself. Here are the Arizona crew of traitors:
