Arizona’s Republican House Delegation Betrays Our Military, Votes Against Defense Spending Authorization.

Never let these MAGA clowns pretend to care about our military ever again. Republicans Biggs, Crane, Gosar, Lesko, and Schwiekert all voted to reject funding our military this year in a snit over bullshit like ‘DEI’, ‘ESG’, transition surgery, abortion services and travel, and drag shows on military bases. They think their culture war nonsense is more important than our military being properly funded and supported!

Can you imagine if Democrats had refused to fund our military because our soldiers weren’t ‘woke’ enough? They would never stop screaming about it from every rooftop! But the reverse happens, and the military refuses to bow to their narrow-minded bigoted hogwash, and 73 of the hardcore MAGA faction vote to defund our military!

Utterly irresponsible! Our military are engaged in the serious business of deterring and balancing the forces of our authoritarian rivals and enemies like Russia and China, and these traitors vote to undermine that mission because they want to signal ideological purity to their bigoted MAGA base!

Shame especially to Eli Crane, who – as an actual combat vet – should know goddamn better! If Crane ever claims to support our military men and women ever again, spit in his face, like he just spit in the faces of our soldiers! Crane knows what he’s done, too. In his latest newsletter, Crane went out of his way to obscure and obfuscate the fact that he voted against funding our armed forces with all kinds of circumlocutions and nonsense. Read this, and tell me whether he’s clear that he just voted to not fund our military this year:

Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 2670: The Congressman OPPOSED this legislation. Unlike the House-passed bill, the conference report did not include several provisions championed by conservatives to defund the Biden administration’s woke agenda at the Pentagon. Specifically, the bill did not prevent funds from being used for DEI or ESG advisory committees, did not eliminate chief diversity officer positions, and did not prohibit race-based admissions at military academies. The bill also did not prohibit taxpayer funds from going to gender transition surgeries or abortion travel. Most notably, it did not force DOD to immediately reinstate service members who were discharged for their refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. By opposing this legislation, the Congressman stood against the Washington status quo and a swamp deal that bargained away almost every policy win in that version of the bill.”

‘One in the Chamber’ Newsletter, Dec 15, 2023.

Crane stood against paying our soldiers and funding our fucking military, not the “status quo and a swamp deal”! Just as with their refusal to fund the Ukrainian fight against Russian aggression and war crimes, the Republicans once again prove that they value their ideological bigotry over our national security. MAGA Republicans are no longer the party of a strong national defense: they are the party of capitulating to authoritarian aggression and fucking over our soldiers in their quest to weaken our nation and give comfort and aid to our enemies.

  1. Thank you Mike. Could not have said it better. As a retired Vet and graduate of a military academy, the one objection by these unpatriotic Republicans to the bill that stood out for me was the bit about race-based admission policies at the Academies. It is essential to unit cohesion and preparedness to risk one’s life for your country to have an officer corps that looks like the enlisted corps. Do they think that an all white officer corps would motivate and lead a bunch of soldiers, sailors and airmen that is racially mixed better than also having racially mixed Lts, Captains, Majors leading them into battle? Insanity. I am proud that the President, Chiefs, and Democratic Senate and House stuck to the guns to keep our volunteer military force diversified top to bottom, looking just like the nation they are defending.
