Stay tuned for counting of provisional ballots for the close races to be determined. Congrats to the winners.
Carolyn’s note: I’ll update the close races as results trickle in, but not the ones which are decided (PC Attorney, Sheriff, Treasurer). UPDATE 8/5/24: no changes to the final results, and all ballots counted after a week.

Voter turnout for statewide was only 31.05 %. Slightly more at 31.39% for Pima County.
General election will be on Nov. 5, 2024.

Looks like Justine Wadsack has indeed lost in LD 17 as former State Senator Vince Leach now is leading by 1932 votes. And in LD 21 House, Stephanie Stahl Hamilton’s lead continues to increase, now to 501 votes over challenger Ortega. These races may be determined as the provisional ballot count slowly trickles in day by day.
Hi Carolyn,
When are the updates coming?
Lee Oler
Already posted most of updates, still waiting on LD 21 House race (2nd seat) and LD 17 Senate race. Provisional ballots may take a week (or more) to count. Other races mostly decided by now.
Glad to see Laura Conover decisively clear the Jette hurdle. Pima County Democratic voters are way smarter than the Repugs and their fake Democrats think!
Thank you, Carolyn.
You bet. Not many surprises in this primary, so now we head into the General Election on Nov. 5, 2024. Watch the outcome for LD 17 Senate to see if Senator Wadsack will be upset. Too bad about Justice Kendrick Wilson, a friend of ours, losing to a non-attorney.
Wadsack looks to be out of job. Not that Leach is much better ideologically, but at least he seems sane.
Just wrong. Very wrong.
Wadsack is losing by 1043 votes, but waiting for all provisional ballots to be counted. Still close race in LD 17 House for 2nd seat with only 344 vote difference between Stahl Hamilton & challenger Ortega.
Leach is a rabid right wing lunatic. You should see his media posts. He puts Trump to shame. There is nothing sane or mainstream about him.
Leach is now winning by 1533 votes and the Tucson Sentinel has called the race, but not all provisional ballots have been counted as it usually takes a week after the election. https://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/080124_leach_wadsack/leach-unseats-wadsack-ld17-senate-primary-rematch/
@David – I should have been clearer: Leach appears to be less insane than Wadsack. In reality, he’s not.
As for mainstream, neither Leach nor Wadsack are in the same area code as “mainstream.”
