Best line in the Klein gun’s-laser-at-your-chest story

by David Safier

Until now, I had a few favorite lines in the Lori Klein story. Saying about her gun, "Oh, it's so cute," was probably number one. "I just didn't have my hand on the trigger, god" ranked as number two. But it was so hard to choose.

But now we have a winner. In yesterday's Republic editorial raking Klein over the coals along with the Republican legislators' "imbecilic" decision to get rid of "virtually every restriction on the right of an adult to carry a concealed weapon," I think we have a winner.

It was the quote where Klein said she was "taught gun safety by her father." Either he was a very, very bad teacher, or she was a very, very bad student. Even NRA folks have come forward to say, you never point a gun unless you have the intention of using it.

Maybe Russell "Rule of Law" Pearce (though when it comes to the senate, it's Russell "I am the Law" Pearce) should amend his decision that guns are OK in the state senate just a little. At least gun toting members should have to take a gun safety course. That's not too much to ask, is it?
