BREAKING: Speaker Boehner breaks off federal debt ceiling talks

The Weeper of the House, John Boehner, and the leader of the Tea Party economic suicide squad, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, waited until the stock exchange closed on Friday before announcing late this afternoon that they are breaking off negotiations with the White House on raising the federal debt ceiling before House Tea-Publicans leave for the weekend. Un-freakin'-believable!

President Obama just completed a press conference. He has instructed House and Senate leadership to come to the White House at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday to explain to him how they propose to keep the nation from going into default over this GOP manufactured debt ceiling "crisis" that can be resolved by a one-sentence bill in five minutes. It is a perfunctory act required by the U.S. Constitution.

The frustration and anger in Obama's voice over the Tea-Publican's "inability to say yes" was palpable. It was almost as if he was stunned that Republicans are crazy enough to kill the hostage and commit economic suicide for their radical extremist agenda. In a letter sent to Republican lawmakers, Boehner said Obama's position on revenues kept a deal from being done.

"In the end, we couldn't connect," Boehner wrote. "Not because of different personalities, but because of different visions for our country. The president is emphatic that taxes have to be raised. The president is adamant that we cannot make fundamental changes to our entitlement programs." [Here's Boehner's letter to his members.]

Speaking to reporters, Obama requested Boehner as well as other Republican congressional leaders and their counterparts in the Democratic party come back to the White House Saturday at 11:00 AM.

"We have run out of time and they are going to have to explain to me how we are going to avoid default," Obama said.

"It's hard to understand why Speaker Boehner would walk away from this kind of deal," Obama said. He asked about the Republicans: "Can they say yes to anything?"

UPDATE: After listening to the press conference of John Boehner and reading his earlier statements, it is clear that the Tea-Publicans are willing to die on the cross for Grover Norquist's "no taxes" orthodoxy. These are true believers in a fundamentalist politico-economic religious dogma. Think Jonestown true believers. The Tea-Publicans are willing to kill the hostage (America) and to commit suicide by an economic GOPocalypse in adherence to their fundamentalist beliefs. It is time that we treat them as the economic terrorists that they are, and no, this is not hyperbole or an ad hominem attack. It is the cold hard truth of the reality this country must now face. Tea-Publicans represent a clear and present danger to this country.
