Brewer: “Please, Please don’t take away our All Star Game.”

The Accidental Guv sent out an email to her fans:

Economic boycotts are an inappropriate and historically harmful response to an issue that deserves proper public debate and discussion.

Inevitably, sports fans and teams all over the nation have developed an opinion on the passage of the Senate Bill 1070 – whatever that opinion may be.  Nevertheless, proving history right, aggravation has led to protests in some areas. Ballparks are not a place for violence, and boycotts are sure to backfire.

But wait, she's not done yet. She has a column on ESPN.com begging fans to be understanding and not take the 2011 All-Star Game away from Phoenix. I love the lame sports metaphors.

Urging Major League Baseball to take away next year's All-Star Game from Phoenix is the wrong play.

[snip]

Essentially, our border leaks like a team with a last-place defense.

Way to get into the sports fans' heads, ghost-writer-for-Brewer.

Also on ESPN.com. Steve Nash on SB 1070.

And a column by  J.A. Adande that ends:

[T]hree letters added to the home team's jerseys will serve as a reminder that there's more than just a playoff series being contested in Arizona right now. Sometimes we all need to be aware of the bigger picture and not just get lost in the games. Thanks to Sarver, the rivalry that once gave us the Robert Horry-on-Nash hip check just provided us with a reality check.

And a poll where you can answer the question, "Should Major League Baseball move the 2011 All-Star Game if a significant number of players object to the site?" With almost 50,000 votes cast, it's pretty close to dead even.

And while I'm on the subject, if you're so inclined, you can let Los Suns know how you feel about their statements and choice of jerseys.
