California Governor Gavin Newsom went on the air against Republican extremist Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida, with the goal of getting Democrats to reclaim their righteous anger so they can beat Trumpism into the ground.
With $105,000 strategically placed on Fox News in Florida, Newsom’s new ad started on July 4. Even though Newsom says otherwise, it sure looks like the first ad of the 2024 presidential race. The ad is paid for by Newsom’s reelection campaign.
“It’s Independence Day — so let’s talk about what’s going on in America,” Newsom says in the ad, standing in the California sun as “America the Beautiful” fingerpicks in the background. “Freedom is under attack in your state.”
Those words flash across the screen in red, followed by a photo of DeSantis shaking hands with Trump, and then Newsom itemizes Florida laws to ban books and restrict voting, and speech and access to abortion.
“I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight — or join us in California, where we still believe in freedom: Freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate, and the freedom to love,” Newsom says as the images proceed the Santa Monica Pier to a rainbow flag waving in the hands of two women. “Don’t let them take your freedom.”
The MAGA Republicans in Phoenix are:
- Banning books
- Making it harder for citizens in AZ to vote
- Restricting free speech in classrooms
- Taking away a woman’s freedom over her own body
- Criminalizing doctors
We urge all Arizonans to join us in the fight to protect and preserve these attacks on our freedoms.
The majority of us in AZ still believe in:
- Freedom of speech
- Freedom to vote
- Freedom to control our human bodies
- Freedom from hate
- Freedom to love who we want
Do not let extremist Republicans take our freedoms. Join us by voting only for candidates who believe in true Freedom. Vote Democrat.
