Call the Wahhmbulance! ‘Gotcha!’ feigned outrage and pearl clutching on the right

The Tea Party tyrants are upset because Teamsters boss James Hoffa called them "sons-of-bitches" in a Labor Day speech? Seriously? I'll call you far worse than that to your face; take a number and get in line. Tea party, Palin slam Hoffa's 'war'-rallying comments:

Led by Sarah Palin, the tea-party movement, which is often accused of promoting incivility, on Tuesday lashed out at Teamster President Jimmy Hoffa and Democrats for using vulgar language and promoting what it terms is class war.

In his introduction of President Obama in Detroit on Monday, Hoffa warmed up the pro-union crowd on Labor Day with an old-fashioned union call to arms.

"We've got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: the war on workers," Hoffa said. "And you see it everywhere, it is the tea party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They've got a war, they've got a war with us and there's only going to be one winner. It's going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We're going to win that war," Hoffa said.

"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these sons of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa said.

Hoffa's language was immediately condemned by tea-party representatives who called on Obama and other Democrats to denounce the union leader.

Wahhmbulance Call the Wahhmbulace! The Tea Party tyrants are clutching their pearls over vulgar language and "Gotcha!" feigned outrage created by FAUX News Fraudcasting editing and the right-wing noise machine. Fox Doctors Hoffa Speech To Fabricate Call For Violence | Media Matters for America. (If you do a YouTube search for the video, there are numerous posts by wingnuts using the doctored FAUX News video, a good demonstration of how the right-wing noise machine "echo chamber" functions).

Tommy Christopher at Mediaite has more:

A quote from Teamster President James Hoffa is making the Labor Day rounds, particularly on the right, as evidence of the kind of “violent rhetoric” that President Obama denounced in the wake of January’s shooting tragedy in Tucson.

When outrage over Hoffa’s quote swept over Twitter, I hadn’t seen the clip yet, but the quote sounded so familiar that I took a look for another source, with broader context. Sure enough, CNN reported the quote this way:

“Everybody here has a vote,” Hoffa said Monday. “If we go back and we keep the eye on the prize. Let’s take these sons of bitches out and give America back to America where we belong.”

The full quote (Hoffa actually says “Everybody here’s got a vote,” and, employing the colloquially approved plural for sonofabitch, “let’s take these sonofabitches out”) is almost identical to something Hoffa said on Morning Joe about a week-and-a-half ago, with little or no outrage. He said “There’s going to be an election in ’12, and maybe the answer is, we wipe these people out.”

Now, the argument can be made that even with the qualifier, Hoffa’s quote is pretty strong, and he did use a bunch of war metaphors. Sarah Palin’s infamous “Don’t retreat, reload!” tweet contained no qualifier about votes (she was fed one 3 days later by a fan), and conservatives were Jim-dandy with that, so the current outrage is likely of the “Gotcha!” variety. Anyone who wants to be mad at Hoffa for using war metaphors is welcome to do so (I like metaphors, always have), but the remark that’s getting all the attention isn’t even a metaphor, it’s a clear message to vote Tea Party Republicans out of office.

What, no outrage over Hoffa's Morning Joe comment? Could it be because it was not strategically timed to coincide with FAUX News Fraudcasting's Labor Day assault on organized labor? You know, the network whose reporters cannot say the word union without reflexively adding the word "thugs" to it. The same network that portrays the anti-union and anti-worker policies of Gov. Scott Walker (WI) and former Faux News contributor Gov. John Kasich (OH) as some kind of holy crusade to save Chrisitiandom from the barbarians.

The right-wing noise machine has created an alternate reality in which multi-national corporations and the über-rich investor class who have looted America's middle-class are now some kind of working class heroes. There's a class war alright, and the wealthy are winning it because they can always get ignorant dumbasses to vote against their own economic self-interests because Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or Billo the Clown told them so. ("Oh, my! Vulgarity! I do believe I have the vapors. Bring me my smelling salts!")

This alternate reality leads to cognitive dissonance and the delusional rantings of their Tea Party queen, the Quitta from Wasilla, in statements like this Tea party, Palin slam Hoffa's 'war'-rallying comments:

Palin, the GOP's former vice presidential candidate, went a step further, arguing that the tea-party movement was the true supporter of the working class.

In a Facebook post, the former governor of Alaska, who is a heroine of the tea-party movement and who has been tantalizing the media by refusing to rule out a presidential run, sought to give a theoretical basis for her supporters.

"These union bosses are desperately trying to cast the grass-roots tea-party movement as being 'against the working man.' How outrageously wrong this unapologetic Jim Hoffa is, for the people's movement is the real movement for working-class men and women. It's rooted in real solidarity, and not special interests and corporate kickbacks," Palin said.

It's time for the guys in the white coats to throw a net over this fruitloop and take her away to the sanitorium where she can get the professional help and rest she so obviously needs. The media should stop their sick fascination with this deranged woman and stop subjecting Americans to her every utterance as if it has been handed down from God on Mount Sinai. Come to think of it, maybe the codependent "lamestream media" who created this media-monster should join her in that sanitorium.

UPDATE: The most important speech on Labor Day came from Vice President Joe Biden, who was on fire. Apparently Tea Party tyrants are OK with being 'barbarians."
