According to the Trib,
The first suit claims charter schools receive less money per student than traditional public schools. The second claims some school districts get less money than other districts.
My guess? The suit about charter funding is the real issue. The district funding issue is the "Really, we care about all public schools, not just charters" part.
Our byzantine school funding system is too complex for me to understand with any level of sophistication, so I'm not weighing in on the validity of the suits. I know charters don't get building funds, which is one of the causes being taken up by charter school associations all over the country.
Expect to hear more from the Arizona Charter Schools Association, a private advocacy group, in the coming months, on a variety of charter-related issues.
