America First my ass.
On the eve of the United States’s 249th birthday, the words spoken by Gerald Ford in his first remarks as President have been turned upside down.
Our long national nightmare continues with MAGA Republicans willing to follow the economic prescriptions of a twice impeached, domestic terrorist enabler, 34 time convicted of business fraud, and a bankrupted of a casino and pass a Big Beautiful Bill for Billionaires that moves this country backward to a Gilded Age that rewarded the haves while savaging the have nots.
That this calamity is about to happen is largely the fault of the American People who forgot Mr. Trump’s many transgressions, lapses, lies, poor management, crimes, and treason during his first term and decided, against all measurements of objective reality, to give him a second chance because they foolishly believed his disinformation about immigrants, his ignorance about Project 2025, his vow (chuckle, chuckle) to end the wars in Ukraine and Gaza in one day, and his lies about bringing prices down.
How are the prices at the grocery store these days people?
Has the price in gas come down?
What is that old expression. Do it to me once, shame on you. Do it to me twice, shame on me for letting you get away with it a second time.
Well shame on the American People who thought Trump deserved a second chance.
Also shame on the American People who thought so called moderates like Maine Senator Susan Collins and Alaska Senator Lisa Murkoswki would rise to the occasion and thwart the move to consider debate on Trump’s Project 2025 Back to the Past Fiscal Plans for the country.
Collin’s vote was bought with a promise to add an inadequate amount of $25 billion of assistance for rural hospitals.
Murkoswki became a Judas to the country when she was able to secure exemptions for Alaskans from Medicaid and SNAP/Food stamp cuts as well as tax cuts for whaling ship captains.
As the Big Ugly Bill stands right now, Collins and Murkowski’s votes would incorporate many of Project 2025’s unpopular proposals including:
- Killing people, including children by cutting off Medicaid, closing rural hospitals, and access to food stamps.
- Being the largest redistribution of “wealth” from the poor to the rich in history. Talk about reverse Robin Hood.
- Gutting major portions of American electric vehicle, solar and wind projects, ceding the market to China. How is that making America First? Even former Trump puppeteer Elon Musk thinks that is insane. Too bad he did not feel that way in 2024. How many good paying blue and green collar jobs may be lost thanks to Trump and MAGA’s science and climate change deniability?
- Raising utility bills for every American across the country.
- Funding the construction of concentration camps for immigrants in Florida. Click here to see this video of Florida Governor Ron De Santis boasting to a FOX News reporter about the new installations. Very very sick considering the already poor conditions in facilities these people are already suffering in.
Donald Trump called this the beginning of a new Golden Age. He forgot to say that Age only applies to individuals, mainly white, with six figure incomes or higher.
Again, shame on the people who thought, especially after the track record from the Felon in Chief’s first term, that he was looking out for you.
The only thing he was looking out for was your stupidity.
People should wise up and listen to the words of actual public servants like Arizona Senator Mark Kelly who voted no on moving to debate Trump’s fiscal disaster headed to this country.
In two posts on June 28, he wrote:
“Here’s how much of a scam this big bill Republicans are pushing through is:
It cuts taxes for billionaires and big corporations by taking away people’s health care and food assistance, yet they found $85 million for Ted Cruz to move a space shuttle.
That’s money that could cover a kid’s doctor’s appointment or school meals. This whole thing has to be stopped.”
“I’m a NO on moving forward on this bill. NO on kicking millions of Americans off their health care and closing rural hospitals and nursing homes in AZ. NO on permanent tax breaks for the rich on the backs of working people. NO on higher utility prices for everyone. NO on adding $4 trillion more in debt. Washington can and must do better than this for working people.”
Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego wrote:
“Republicans are about to try and pass their budget bill.
Just to recap here’s what the bill does.
-Kicks more than 16 million American off healthcare
-Takes food assistance away from about 3 million Americans
-Puts nearly 400,000 jobs at risk
All to give huge tax cuts to billionaires.”
On Republicans like Collins, Murkowski, and Josh Hawley who talked a good game on how bad this bill would be for middle and working class people and still voted to proceed to debate, Gallego posted:
If there is an opportunity to rebuild this country from the economic and social calamity that is now here and only going to intensify, hopefully the people who thought American Duce wannabe, Felon in Chief, and traitor Donald Trump deserved a second chance will see the error of their ways and listen to the pleas of true public servants for all the people like Kelly and Gallego.
