So much for America First.
Just when you thought he had misplaced priorities with his Big Billionaires First Rob from the Poor and Give to the Rich Bill, spending $200 million for a White House Ballroom only he wants, and forcing the country into a government shutdown while people are starving to death because of his extreme Supply Side Return to the Gilded Age belief system, Banana Republic head Donald Trump and his Shock Doctrine economics team have sunk to a new low.
In a move designed to prop up an international kindred spirit and fan who enacted similar extreme supply side economic and DOGE austerity measures like those in Elon Musks reign of spending cut terror and the Republican’s Big Billionaires First Bill, American Duce Wannabe and Felon in Chief Donald Trump is throwing a $20 billion lifeline to Argentina’s Javier Milei while people in this country and around the world are or are about to be cut off from health and food assistance access, risking their lives.
Again, this is the same Donald Trump who just screwed over millions of foreign aid recipients by cutting off their lifelines to foods and medicines, even letting supplies rot in warehouses rather than send them.
This is the same Donald Trump who just screwed over American working class and middle class citizens by making it more expensive to buy food, gas, health insurance, and pay for utilities with his ill advised tariffs and spending cuts contained in his Big Billionaires First Bill.
Check out the below video from Gavin Newsom which frames what the Stable Genius has done to the American People.
People should now follow Mark Cuban’s suggestion and call these tariff and insurance price increases Trump taxes.
This is the same Donald Trump who is about screw more American People by shutting down the government rather than restore the health care cuts he and MAGA Supply Side Republicans placed in the Big Billionaires First Bill.
Do not fall for the misinformation line from MAGA that Democrats are trying to give health care to illegal immigrants. It was a lie when they first said it and it is a lie now.
Rather than negotiate with Democrats and help vulnerable American citizens, Mr. Trump would rather spend time going to golf events like the Ryders Cup.
This really should come as no surprise considering Trump’s predisposition to help those with power and six figure bank accounts who worship him and are part of his political tribe while ditching everyone else, including the many uninformed working class and middle class voters who despite the track record, thought he would help them in a second term.
There has been bipartisan criticism of Trump’s move to help Argentina when there are Americans who need the help first.
Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley posted on social media:
“Farmers VERY upset abt Argentina selling soybeans to China right after USA bail out Still ZERO USA soybeans sold to China Meanwhile China is still hitting USA w 20% retaliatory tariff NEED CHINA TRADE DEAL NOW farmers need markets 2boost farm economy.”
Trump has said that he plans to help out the farmers by giving them a portion of the revenue generated by his ill advised tariffs that are currently…wait for it…crippling farmers.
Think the farmers would much prefer the ability to sell their crops than get a bailout from the person they voted for in overwhelming numbers who is screwing them.
Guess their bet at the ballot box is not working out for them again.
When will people learn?
On the farmer bailout, Arizona Senate Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan called the move for what it is: socialism.
Guess socialism is okay when it is your political base when they gripe enough along with your plutocratic-oligarchical donor class.
Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego, after seeing Grassley’s post issued the below sarcastic insight.
Nobel Prize Economist and noted columnist Paul Krugman wrote:
“But remember that, in Trump’s world, America’s interests don’t count. Only his interests count. And Javier Milei, Argentina’s president, has been an important poster child for right-wing economics. The early success — or apparent success — of his policies was widely celebrated as a great victory. In February, Milei and Elon Musk shared the stage, wielding a chainshaw, during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC.) And Milei has deftly played the part of the Trump acolyte, praising Trump’s tariffs and deportations at the UN, while attacking “left-wing infiltration” of American institutions.
But the victory celebrations were premature: Mileinomics is now in big trouble. So Bessent is offering large-scale aid — not to defend U.S. interests, but in an attempt to rescue the reputation of Trump’s preferred ideology and cult of fealty…
…What I can say is that I can see no legitimate reason for the U.S. government to risk billions in American taxpayer dollars in an almost surely doomed effort to bail Milei out. Above and beyond the economics, it is an outrage that we are doing this while condemning African children to die to save a similar amount of money. But in Trump’s petty world view, humanity and reason, much less America’s interests, don’t count.”
Moving forward, Democrats are vowing to continue to fight the Trump-Project 2025 assault on the American People and Republican drive to shut down the government while Trump spends billions helping Argentina instead of his own citizens.
In a video posted by Representative Yassamin Ansari on September 25, she warned that the MAGA cruel plan to shut down the government is designed to further cripple support agencies created to help the middle class and down and out.
In her below comments, she said that her and fellow Democrats will show up back in Washington on Monday to, unlike Trump and Republicans, do the work needed to avoid a shutdown.
“…The fiscal year ends on September 30th. That’s coming Tuesday at midnight. If Congress does not pass legislation that decides funding levels for differing government agencies and operations, the government itself will shut down. So, what does this mean? Government shutdowns are horrific. Millions of Americans will feel a Republican shut down immediately. Federal workers and servicemen will miss paychecks. Veterans will wait longer periods for their benefits that they’ve earned. WIC benefits will run out of funding quickly, putting children and parents at risk, and national parks will be closed. So that is why Democrats have been working tirelessly to try to negotiate to protect health care. It gets worse. The White House is preparing to use this shutdown as cover to fire thousands of public servants and dismantle the very agencies that protect Americans every single day. The Press Secretary has already been talking about this. They’re putting lies out there. These are people who make sure that our food is safe, who keep our water clean, who enforce workplace protections, who deliver Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security payments. If they’re gone, those protections will go with them. So, I just want to make that very clear. We had votes scheduled on Monday and Tuesday ahead of the September 30th deadline. Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson canceled these votes, told Republicans not to come back, taking away any chance that the House could have to come to an agreement. Then Donald Trump canceled a planned meeting with Democratic Leadership that Dem leadership asked for. Instead, he spent the week in New York, bashing the United Nations. So, now, the government that Republicans control is heading for a shutdown, and Donald Trump is flat out, refusing to negotiate. This shutdown is not an accident. It’s their plan, and there will be real real consequences. Democrats are showing up this week in the district. I have been sounding the alarm going to community health centers trying to make sure everyone knows about what we are trying to do when it comes to protecting health care, so costs don’t go up and premiums don’t go up. I don’t understand why Republicans are unleashing this type of cruelty on the American People. They are walking away from their jobs. They’re refusing to do their jobs. Even though they’ve canceled votes, we are flying back on Sunday. We’re going to be ready to work in DC on Monday to work for our constituents, and I invite my Republican colleagues to do the same.”
