Curtis Acosta makes Huffington Post’s “10 Latinos in Politics to Keep an Eye On” list

by David Safier

Congrats to our own Curtis Acosta, a former TUSD teacher in the Mexican American Studies program who often served as its public spokesperson. He was included in HuppPo's 10 Latinos In Politics To Keep An Eye On. The list is nonpartisan and filled with such well known names as brothers Joaquin and Julian Castro, Ted Cruz, Eva Longoria and George P. Bush. Also included is Tony Diaz, founder of Nuestra Palabra: Latino Writers Having Their Say, who led the Librotraficantes caravan from Texas to Tucson carrying books removed from TUSD classrooms when MAS was dismantled. The fact that two people connected with the MAS struggles were spotlighted indicates that this was, and continues to be, a big deal on a national level.

Way to go, Curtis.
