Though I think that AmChauv and Duke clearly have their own serious bias towards Rather, Duke does raise one valid observation: Dan Rather has some credibility issues.
The Bush-NG story, while fairly accurate on most of the facts, had some clearly faked evidence. He and his team (no reporter works such a big story alone) let themselves be taken in by some of the artifacts provided. That is just not good journalism. (not that there is much good journalism anymore, esp after watching that film @ DL last week)
Now, before you Bush apologists start in on the notion that the entire Bush-NG story was fake: The letter presented on-air was clearly a forgery. BUT, the secretary who allegedly wrote the letter did acknowledge that the CONTENTS of the faked letter were factual. Beside, the administration has no credibility when it comes to matters of the press. Remember, it PAID for editorials that supported administration programs.
Watch the video with an open mind, put the person reporting it out of your mind. I think you will find some very scary things there, IF you truly believe in DEMOCRACY.

Wow. Amazing how quickly some folks descend to a purely ad hominem attacks. No suggestion of how the piece was ‘biased’. I guess every one of those Sequoia and ES&S employees were ‘biased’, too?
Amazing how unshakable belief in the Chimp King can trash and denigrate 30 years of journalistic excellence because of a minor detail, when the substance of the report, that Bush went AWOL, was absolutely correct. And then use that one mistake to trash a great American’s reputation and production thereafter. This is the face of political censorship in America’s free press…
Dan Rather, the king of fabrication and media deceit being portrayed as an authority on voting machines?
A guy that was fired from his anchor job for breaching one of the greatest tenants of responsible journalism now expects people to forget that he can’t be believed and to buy into this clearly biased report?
