Democratic Reaction to Wendy Roger’s Latest Xenophobic and Racist Comments

As noted in previous articles, it is sometimes hard to keep up with the antics and words of Arizona’s craziest and most obtuse “public servants” like Wendy I forgot to wear my flight mask at high altitudes Rogers, Kelli I stole that election Ward, Kelly I never met a reactionary fringe cause I did not like Townsend, Andy Coronavirus masks are bad Biggs, Paul my siblings will not vote for me Gosar, and Mark I was there with the Domestic Terrorists at the Nations Capitol on January 6 Finchem.

This week it is the Legislative District (LD) Six State Senator, Rogers, turn.

As AZ Central and AZ Blue Meanie have reported, the former airforce pilot is channeling her Trump Zone-Fox Island-Disinfowar persona by tweeting on July 17, 2021:

Roger’s xenophobic and racist words echo the sentiments and comments of many white nationalists, neo-fascist, and neo nazi individuals and groups who subscribe to the discredited “replacement theory.”

This admitted member of the far-right Oath Keepers, who has already made a reputation for herself in the Arizona State Legislature with her far-right comments (like Robert E. Lee is a patriot and the election was stolen from Donald Trump) and  harassment accusations  from a legislative staffer, faced condemnation from the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Phoenix, whose spokesperson, Paul Rockower, said:

“The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Phoenix is deeply concerned with Sen. Rogers’ use of extremist terms that have inspired some of the worst atrocities in recent history. Given the uptick of antisemitism and extremism in our state, and across the country, Rogers’ use of thinly-veiled hate speech is dangerous and has no place in the rhetoric of Arizona’s elected officials.”

When faced with this criticism, the LD Six Senator doubled down on her July 17 comments, tweeting (what else:)

Democratic Reaction to Rogers Outlandish Comments

The Coconino County Democrats, which includes a portion of Legislative District Six have released several statements on social media, condemning Rogers. These include:

Liz Luna, the Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (ADLCC) stated:

“Wendy Rogers is a far-right radical who has been fervently pushing the Republican election scam and now pushing thinly veiled hate speech. She is unfit to lead and it’s a shame that her colleagues like Paul Boyer and JD Mesnard don’t speak out against her extremism.”

Vice President and Director of Public Affairs of Matters of State Strategies Matt Grodsky wrote:

“Rogers is just a mouthpiece for white supremacists and conspiracy theorists. We have Governor Ducey’s PAC to thank for her election the last cycle. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who care about truth and democracy should make every effort to unseat her.”

Luna and Grodsky are right. Wendy Rogers is an embarrassment and insult to the Arizona Legislature and the idea of public service. She should resign (not happening with that unhinged ego,)be recalled (better odds there,) or be defeated in 2022 (the Democrats have potentially strong candidates like Coral Evans or Felicia French that could accomplish that task if they wanted to run again.)

The time to start working to retire her is now.
