Please watch State Senate Democratic Leader and ADLCC Co-Chair Priya Sundareshan talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly that occurred this week at the Arizona State Legislature.
Below is the transcript of the Senators comments:
“The Good.”
“This week, Democrats successfully pushed my seatmate, Representative Nancy Gutierrez’s HB. 2213 the free school lunch bill through the Appropriations Committee, moving it one step closer to getting signed into law. I would also like to congratulate Representative Alma Hernandez. Representative, Consuelo Hernandez, Representative, Aaron Marquez, Representative Cesar Aguilar, and Senator Catherine Miranda for all getting their bills, passed through the committee as well.”
“The Bad.”
“Two bills, making it harder to vote are headed to the governor’s desk. These bills are going to shorten the early, voting deadline making a Friday before election day. The very last day 1 could drop off their early ballots and makes it harder to get your mail-in ballot in.”
“The Ugly.”
“Instead of focusing on the issues that affect Arizonans, Republicans are continuing to move their anti-trans bills to the governor’s desk. These two bills have made it through their original Chambers and will now be crossed over HB2062 goes to the Senate and SB 1033 to the House. These bills mirror the exact same ones that were already vetoed last year by the governor.”
With a Republican-controlled House and Senate. It is tough to keep up with all the extremism that they’re pushing but Arizona, Democrats won’t stop fighting for you. This is Arizona politics, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”
