Once again, Democrats have shown they are the party of law and order and responsible immigration security.
Rather than listen to the rantings of American Duce Donald Trump’s Gestapho-Border Tsar Tom Homan’s inaccurate rants to a joint session of the Arizona State Legislature about how the Musk/Trump/Vance Committee are making the country safe by illegally deporting residents without due process, Legislative Democrats, many of whom holding the names of individuals with no criminal records who were officially kidnapped from Immigration and Customs, walked out rather than listen to Homan’s remarks.
Several of them made remarks outside the State House Building, including Representatives Anna Abeytia and Betty Villegas.
Representative Consuelo Hernandez made video remarks after leaving the State Capitol condemning Homans’s Unconstitutional position on immigration enforcement.
In a press statement from the Arizona Senate Democratic Caucus, Senator Catherine Miranda, Co-Chair of the Latino Caucus, stated:
“It’s disturbing that my colleagues are giving a platform to someone who has caused so much harm to our community. Tom Homan isn’t just deporting people; he’s responsible for kidnappings, disappearances, and the deportation of individuals for reasons as unjust as having tattoos, protesting, or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And while those outside the immigrant community might not think this impacts them, let’s not forget Pastor Martin Niemoller’s poem First They Came. Right now, they might only be going after the right to due process for immigrants, but soon they will be coming for you or your loved one’s due rights process as well. The actions this administration is taking are not only illegal – they are inhumane. They do not believe that immigrants and people of color are human beings worthy of respect, and that is a message I cannot cosign, which is why I walked out today.”
Senator Analise Ortiz conveyed:
“Tom Homan is not welcome in Arizona. The immigrants who have called Arizona home, the families that help the economy, who help take care of their community. They are welcome here. For way too long, Arizona has long been ground zero for harmful policies against immigrant communities with SB1070 and Sheriff Joe Arpaio paving the way for today’s mass deportations. Since Trump has taken office, we have seen hundreds of thousands of individuals deported, people being detained for peaceful protests or having tattoos, and racist rhetoric spewed from both federal and local republicans. ‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan is behind all of that. I walked out in protest of this administration’s actions because they are illegal, immoral, and this is not what America should stand for. It is our job as lawmakers to ensure that people looking for a better life are still able to come and achieve the American dream, they way many of our parents and grandparents did. America was built by immigrants, and it’s time for Congress to act accordingly by passing a permanent pathway to citizenship. Until that happens, I will continue fighting for my community.”

In comments to the AZ Capitol Times, House Democratic Leader Oscar De Los Santos voiced concerns about federal and state actions toward immigrants who are children, here legally, or who have been granted protections to go through the entry process, saying that as a teacher, he had students who were “undocumented” and:
“Under SB1164, those students would live in fear and terror coming to school every single day that an ICE agent could show up during English, detain them, and deport them. I don’t think that’s who we are as a state.”
Furthermore, he asserted that he found Homan and his agenda as “flailing, incompetent and illegally deporting people who are lawfully present in the United States.” To the Capital Times, “He said a better approach is the one taken by Hobbs, who has funded programs to seize fentanyl pills.”
These public servants have no problem with immigration border enforcement and deporting actual illegal immigrants who have committed criminal acts.
But what the Musk/Trump/Vance/Homan Central Committee are doing jeopardizes the lives and rights of innocent people without care or regard to actual investigation or due process.
This approach, based on racial profiling, is not the way to legally enforce border security.

Why hasn’t a senator or representative from either party resuscitated Sen. Lankford’s bipartisan border/immigration bill that would have passed had it not been quashed before the election at Trump’s directive?
